(usm, an explanation. there was an early nineties band, carter the unstoppable sex machine, they consisted of two guys called jimbob and fruitbat... one year at the smash hits poll winners party, their backing music went funny. fruitbat took offence and 'attacked' phillip scofield. which is great when you're young! )

It wasn't great. Maybe I was just that bit too old to appreciate it at the time, but I thought it was such a pathetic thing to do. Good on Phillip, though, for just carrying on.

Hitch I'm not sure why the delicious Adam was naked...I reckon it was BBC offering us a lovely treat to welcome in the new series. All's I know is he woke up naked with that Ros one and thanks to the gods he rose from the bed and there was his wee behind. YUM

i was like 8 or 9 (optimum smash hits ages) when the fruitbat incident happened, of course it was funny to me. you may be interested to know they've just released a two disc greatest hits... yes, i can't think of that many tracks either... but they didn't have mtv2 in those days, i was lost in a mire of crap pop.
