It does seem 2006 has turned into a sci-fi tv, below are examples

  • Invasion

  • Surface

  • Supernatural

There are more show like Stargate, Smallville and Enterprise but these shows ain't new. It does seem this year i'm overloaded with sci-fi.

Well new sci-fi is a good thing. Problem is most of the series have the same plot; aliens invading by stealth. I wouldn't mind if they were well done but they're not.

Usual talentless stack-'em-high-sell-'em-low hacks jumping on the popular bandwagon Roll Eyes

I haven't seen Surface, sounds not dissimilar to Threashold, Invasion, Invasion Earth...and a dozen others over the years. But if it's done well then I may check it out; what's the verdict?

I've seen the ads for Supernatural, that's all I know about it so far. Looked like Hex.

I watched a good twenty minutes of Surface last week and at the time, I was convinced it was Sphere. It kind of put me off, in that respect, but of the stuff I saw this week, it was totally different.

I'm not sure good is a word I'd use to describe it though, as such...Frown

I`ve missed Surface, when`s it on? and what channel.

If it`s on as early as 6pm on a saturday evening, does that mean it`s aimed at kids?

  • Swings and roundabouts, bala, swings and roundabouts.

There`s been times when there`s been very little fresh sci-fi being made for TV becuase "no-one likes sci-fi anymore". Then someone makes a good scifi show, and suddenly all the mothballed ideas come out of the closet, and suddenly everyone is making them.

It's on ITV, Angelus. I don't know what time it starts but know that it's still on at around five. Smile

It was at four pm this week. Forgot it. Doesn't make it a kids' show, though. TV channels like buying grown up stuff, then slashing it to pieces and putting it in a kids' slot. Roll Eyes

Anyways, sci-fi this year. Doctor Who! And there's Torchwood, though that might be early 2007 now. Plus there's a new adaptation of Jekyll And Hyde, there's Johnny And The Bomb - too much sci-fi?! No way.

Speaking of Smallville, though, what season is E4 currently showing? I've totally lost track. Never really got into the show because of C4's rubbish scheduling, and it's probably too late to get into now. There's an episode in season five (I think) that I want to catch, though, that guest stars Tom Wopat, and is a Dukes Of Hazzard tribute. Smile

Is that good? I've missed it this weekend, I think, but I'd like to see how a Pratchett adaptation turns out...

I haven't seen it, Becky. Pratchett fans seem happy, though.

Theres a lot of shows, but I'm wary of committing myself to them as they have a habit of being cancelled (Threshold) or subject to constant rumours of cancellation (Surface, Invasion).
Sea of souls is pretty good - though I've only caught this latest series.
I'm enjoying Battle star Gallatica too - and I'm praying fervently to the Gods of Sci-fi that it isn't cancelled before resolution!

You can neve rhave enough Sci-fi! Maybe everyone is now putting it on after years of no decent show on tv. Of course Stargate SG-1 is nearly finished on Channel 4 and it'll be a bit, probably september time before series 9 is on, so they fill the gap quite nicely, when they finish i'm sure there'll be something else.

Most of us were`nt too impressed, but are willing to give it a chance.

Not that there is much else on a sunday night to watch.

Sunday night... don't watch anything. Monday nights are cool, though, with the gloriously accident prone Hannay. Not remotely sci-fi connected, mind.
