Stargate was alright last week. I missed a lot of this season though so I was a bit confused, but it was still good.
Nice tension. Good old cold war stuff and you can't beat that when it's done well.

We're getting a five part build up to end of season? That sounds like something I won't mind missing. I'm not fond of two-parters so a five-parter sounds like something I'm gonna get bored of pretty quickly. Mythology, mythology, season arc, mythology. To quote Urgo... 'boring' (you remember 'Urgo'? Back in those halcyon days back when Stargate knew how to write a good story and didn't get hung up about season arcs).

Mind you last week's episode seemed like, if I'd known anything about previous weeks, it would have been a season arc show. Since I didn't, I could enjoy it as a nice little cold war show.

Now I'm the opposite, I love a good arc. When there's an episode that doesn't pregress the arc I get impatient with it. I like epic stories that unfold and develop, not something you can squeeze into 45 minutes.

I always felt that the biggest flaw in ST-TNG was that episodes were generally self-contained; very rarely was something from a previous episode even referenced. DS9 was the same for a long time but then they saw what B5 did and decided to get their own arc, The Dominion. I know you thought that ruined it but to me it made it.

I think we've had this disagreement before haven't we? Hey, it's almost as if we have our own arc! Razz

Lol, I like a mixture. There are some stand alone episodes which are Classic like Window of Oppertunity, and Abyss, but even these mention other episodes (eg Daniel being ascended etc). I like story arcs too as it means a longer story and more time to develop plot.

For those who didn't know, the guy who played Joe is the guy who does the voice of Homer Simpson. It's good that he agreed with the "Burns as a Goa'uld" thing Big Grin

Loads of little in-jokes for the hardcore fans, with Joe and those around him saying the kinds of things fans have been saying about the show for years.

It didn't do it for me though.

Loved the references for fans in Citizen Joe. Laughed a bit when I saw it first time but...the storyline was quite rubbish Roll Eyes

Enjoyed this episode, pretty good for a clips show. Not a lot of depth, but lots of humour.

The rest of this series is brilliant!

Thought it was good - I'm guessing that'll lead into the next few stories, with the stone being found in Ancient Egypt all those years ago.

Having been really struggling with Season 9 which, in my opinion, is dreadful, I watched "Citizen Joe" and actually briefly broke down in tears at the end. This was such a fun episode, and had flashbacks to episodes when Stargate was really good, and I got all sentimental!

I loved the affectionate digs at the over-obsessive fans in this one - especially Joe's reaction to Daniel being dead, and then being alive again. The bit that had me on the floor laughing was Charlene commenting to Joe about his later stories: "it seems to me like the team interaction isn’t what it used to be in the beginning"!

I also loved Joe's comment to Daniel: "Not that Jonas was a bad guy, but after all you’ve been through together, you belong here with SG-1."

The writers had so been reading bulletin boards like this one to pick up so much of what the fans have been thinking about the development of the show!

Anyone else notice that the guys who were repossessing Joe's house and furniture wore overalls with "Brothers Grimm Repo" on the back?!

Nope didn't spot that, but i agree with the funniness of it (if that's even a word). Clip shows are usually not that good, but this one wasn't bad.

Didn't see T4 on sunday (struggling to remember the finer points of Citizen Joe from when I last saw it) so can't say if I like him but I do hope he keeps up the sci-fi expert tradition of posting on the T4 forum!

He has a way to catch you though, and the Claw disappeared into nothingness. I forgot about the Chief - basiclaly they showed the past sci fi experts so we (the loyal T4 viewers) can judge who was the best. They also included Amanda Tapping in list, though her interview was bad, through no fault of her own I might add, but rather Steve Jones.

Incidently, does anyone from Channel 4 actually read this forum?

I know that some of the guys at T4 read the T4 Irish Princess thread that got a little out of hand before most it was deleted Big Grin We were talking about how crazy it was that it was taken so seriously but everyone found it funny.

The claw still posts a bit on the discuss 4 forum and a couple of others but apparently one of his fans has a petiton going to get him back on T4.

Ah. Maybe I should venture forth more to the T4 message boards. There you go again with you being famous - you get your own topic about you.

i agree it has not been the best but i wouldnt say it was dreadful! It's in that transition phase season, the latest episode 14 was good i thought, apart from the mitchell and friend in hospital scenes! ive read the 'taglines' for the last few episodes and it looks like an interesting story at the end! I always look forward to the next episode, but enjoy watching the season 8 eps especially the next lot cause they are fabulous!
