Hey we're sci-fi fans; we don't have friends! Padawans perhaps, snake-like creatures living inside us possibly, but not friends On a totally unrelated matter do you guys have broadband?

YEh... i suppose you are right about that one bug. i have followers who i occasionally meet with, but i must have been going crazy for a second thinking of the word 'friends' must be the heatwave. I have broadband NTL apparently they doing free upgrades so mine should be going to 4Mbps *keeping my fingers crossed* why you asking?

Haha. Will send an email pretty big pigeon. And I have more of an inner santum than friends per say, though I elected myself as the Yoda figure of it, though not everyone agrees. But I always say to them - when are the inner sanctum meeting up? And they know what I mean. So all good. Oh and Bug, I do have broadband yes.

Oh no reason. By the way broadband is great for newsgroups. Giganews is the best provider but there are cheaper and less-good providers. And you'd need a newsreader program too, like Newsleecher or Newsbin Pro. Pretty much anything you can think of is on newsgroups, so of course you have to be careful to avoid certain things, like copyrighted material for example. Especially episodes of US shows that are often posted within a day of being broadcast over there, you should definitely avoid those.

American Sci-Fi this is not British Sci-Fi

True. British sci-fi is so much better. Okay, maybe not the best thing to so on a SG1 thread. Well RDA said he was a huge fan of British humour, and there are two Brit born actors in SGA, so I think it can be included as best ever sci-fi

Have just watched Season 9 ep 'Prototype' and really enjoyed it. Don't want to say anything else because I'd be spoiling. One advantage of renting these dvds is the commentaries. Some interesting stuff comes up and some of the bods are funny.

orginal creator dean devlin wants 2 do sequel 2 sg movie, even form a trilogy.
| |

indeed he does, it was original plan to make a trilogy of films when he first started off. the 1st that we all know and love to do with egyptian mythology, the next about another mythology and a 3 that links the two together. Go to this link for more details Stargate New Click Here

Bringing back Kurt Russell and James Spader would just be weird. This seems more like a project to cash in on the popularity of the series.

If he says there was always going to be a trilogy of films there is no need to doubt him, although how they are going to link the films and the series together nicely will be difficult. E.g. if daniel came back to the SGC before the Pilot of SG-1 then the pilot story would be complete thrown out of the water. I reckon it would be good to watch, but may not be very stargate-y after all the years of SG-1 after all. I still want an SG-1 film to finish everything off on that series, even if its just a TV film but no 2-parter rubbish, just one episode running for 1hour and a half to 2 hours screen time - not including adverts - that would be super cool

Kinda like The Peacekeeper Wars but all in one lump ? I have to agree that I don't know how they would work it around the series. If they muck around with the mythology then people will get pissed off pretty darn quick. Hell hath no fury like a fanboy scorned.

It would be very difficult for them to do a movie including Jack O'Neil (albeit with one 'l') and Daniel Jackson without treading on the toes of the series. They could do a film about what happened to Daniel during his time on Abydos before Jack returned at the beginning of Season 1 (although they'd have trouble explaining why Daniel now looks so old!) but I just can't see how they can get Jack involved.
Also, the team who run the series has been talking about doing a movie for yonks. It would be crazy to have two movies featuring the same characters played by two different sets of actors.
Personally I see this as a non-starter - or a huge financial flop.

It is very difficult to see how it all would come about, without stepping on the series, and also they would only have a year to tell the story if it was set on/around earth as the series starts a year after the movie doesn't it? I think you are right Jenna, even in that interview with him he has been trying to get his movies off the ground since the first and due to MGM he hasnt been able to, so i doubt that much has really changed that would convince them to do these films of his. Its definately got a 'watch this space' tag line written all over it, hopefully some more news in the next couple of months will give some idea as to whats happening with it.

I'd have to agree too. A lot of people have got into the tv series without ever having seen the film, and many who have prefer the series to the film. I think it would be a flop. Added to this, I support Pigeon's arguement that it would be difficult to fit in around SG-1 and Atlantis already. There is an entire 10 years of stories of SG-1 and in that time they've built up characters. To go and do a film could turn its back on all that. I think however, if SG-1 and Atlantis creators did a film and brought Devlin on board that might be interesting. But I would have to get up to date with episodes and see the Ori in action etc, unless it was out of context.

producers of smallville and suprman rturns try 2 parallel ideas and concepts so should nw flik with sg1 series.
| |

what now? none of that makes any sense to me! please explain in english :P
"how does cheesey biscuits and lemon pie sound?"
| |

the producers of the new movie and smallville tried 2 keep parallel continuity. more people know sg1 so the new movie should really follow some of its concepts, not press reset.
| |

the only reason devlin is making a sg movie is because of the success of the tv franchise. he has neglected his creation for over 10 years while others saw the value in it.
