Doc Greene - The CiN special featured Rose wanting to go back to Station 5 and find Jack to help with the regeneration, and the Doc saying that Jack will have his hands full trying to rebuild the Earth. Fans have been arguing about this ever since. It's a dreadful line, as quite obviously the last thing that Jack would want is to be left behind to help rebuild anything. Rose doesn't know that Jack died, though it's a fair assumption that he did. She doesn't remember bringing him back to life (strictly speaking it was the TARDIS that did that anyway, not her). The Doctor might know about that from sucking the Vortex out of her, but it's all rather unclear. Basically that whole line smacks of RTD feeling that he ought to mention Jack, as he's faced a lot of criticism for forgetting about him in the past. So he stuck a line in that everybody hates! Read your own interpretation in there about it all. Everybody else is!

Nah, I was responding to your golden age of sci-fi comment.
Ahh, gotcha. I didn't know it was to be a joint-venture with the BBC. So we have a convergence here, the BBC are keener on sci-fi than they've been for many years and the Buffy/Angel movies look to be kicking off. Presumably the Ripper thing would be a prequel though, and so you couldn't have Tony Head playing him. Ewan MacGregor perhaps? Becks that was the most transparent lie of the year so far

Ripper is intended to be the adventures of Giles post-Buffy. They talked originally about showing what he was doing when he wasn't in season six, then what he was doing when he wasn't around in season seven, then what he might be getting up to since the destruction of Sunnydale. They drew parallels with The X-Files, and talked of him investigating psychic and paranormal whatnots. There could have been an arc about the new Slayers, and rebuilding the Watchers, and presumably Willow guesting at some point.

You're right, I never know what you're talking about.

Thanks Mickey - much appreciated.

Maybe. Giles deserves his own story more than Spike does.

So we never get to see Giles' dark past then?

I doubt it. Would make a great story, though, wouldn't it.

It seemed pretty good from the little snippets we gleaned. His partner-in-whatever (Evan? Ethan?) seemed like an interesting character too.

The wonderful Ethan Rayne. Yes, I'd love to hear more of his adventures with Giles. I would suggest that it would make a great book, but all the Buffy and Angel books are absolute crap, so maybe not.

Rather bizarrely, given that everything was still on schedule when we were talking about this last - Torchwood has now been put back a few weeks. *Sulks* JB was expecting to begin shooting in April, but it looks like it might be June, now. Not too bad, though. *Stamps feet petulantly anyway*

Mickey said he doesn't fancy Cap'n Jack. I guess it must be a platonic obsession Angelus I trust you actually did that stuff?

Good Torchwoody news in Doctor Who Magazine this month. Pre-production started in early Jan, the scripts are rolling in, and casting is underway. *Gets excited all over again*

We`d better be on the lookout for spoilers then!

Spoilers shouldn't be a problem for a while yet. RTD is very good about keeping a tight lid on things. It's all down to how much interest the blasted tabloids show. Grr.

Joss Whedon hated spoilers getting out as well. Didn`t stop underlings revealing them.
