Yeah, you make some excellent points Mickey. I really don't want Jack to be Boe now either, and thinking about what you said, it really wouldn't make sense in terms of his character!

I can totally see your point(s) Mickey. But I think of the face of boe as a wise sage who has seen many things during his lifetime. It's quite nice to imagine Jack turning into that... But yes if Boe isn't Jack.. what is his plant like?? Are they all heads in glass jars (a bit too Futerama really)? And if not how do they normally move?... Hmmm mmaybe I'm thinking about this a bit too much now?!

No, you're not thinking about it too much. You're exercising your imagination, which is good. Much better than the alternative. Boe is Boe. The universe is more interesting that way.

Yes, my creativity needs exercise sitting at this desk all day.. groan.. I think I may make up a whole Boe world on my dinner.. Where to start?.. Well, for one thing, all the doors would have to be much wider than on other planets...

Because they were protected by The Coat, which is magic.

what? with regards Jack`s magic coat? It`s just GOT to be magic, how else would it have survived, and protected Jack, and the rest of his clothes for 2000 years??

got this from another source-
"The reason for the 5 episode Series 3 of Torchwood is basically budgetary. In January 2007 the BBC failed miserably to get the licence fee settlement it requested and planned for. Budget cuts have been made all over the place, and inevitably one of these is Upper Boat.
During the financial year 2007-8 there were 2 production teams working full time. This roughly equated to 9 months filming Doctor Who, 9 months filming Torchwood and 6 months filming SJA. For the financial year 2008-9 there will be just one team which will produce SJA (April - August), Torchwood (September - December) and Doctor Who (January - March).
AFAIK, the plan for 2009-10 is to go back to 2 teams, with a full Series 5 of Who and a full Series 4 of Torchwood, hopefully as well as SJA Series 3.
Owing to the enormous amount of spin-off merchandise etc, what the BBC have had to do is ensure that the programmes get made, whilst at the same time making more out of less. Therefore both Torchwood Series 3 and the Doctor Who 2009 Specials will be marketed as *event television*.""

Perhaps John Barrowman is also busy next year? well.. more busy than normal. That guy seems to work 36 hours a day, 8 days a week. Watched him on Jonathan Ross last friday, and he seems to have lost one hell of a lot of weight. Hope his health is not suffereing with all the work he`s doing at the minute.

It's got nothing to do with John Barrowman. He always puts TW first when planning his schedule.

Argh. I'm sorry Angelus. It's just that everybody's been blaming this on JB, and some people have got really nasty about it. Just like everybody's blaming less Who on Tenny. For starters neither actor is nearly powerful enough for that; and secondly that's just not how TV works. Certainly not nowadays. For up to date info, OG is usually the place to turn. Although it's not called that anymore, I know, but I keep calling it that anyway. Just fight your way through all the people blaming JB, and you'll find the truth in there somewhere! Alternatively, the first source for proper official news is always Doctor Who Magazine, but that only comes out once a month, so it's not always very up to date!

Really? People are actually blaming JB and DT? Like you, I wouldn`t have thought the actors would have had enough clout to demand a shorter working series. In the case of Doctor Who, the makers always had the option to regnerate the Doctor if David wanted to go off and do something else. It would have been the ideal opportunity to concentrate more on Torchwood while Dr Who was not in full production. But to also cut short Torchwood means there`s something else going on that they`re not saying. Like maybe financial cutbacks. It seems very sus to have both shows on short runs at the same time. I can`t honestly believe that the BBC thinks that Torchwood can`t exist without Doctor Who.............. well..... actually .... I can.

It's a rumour that everyone is saying though.. hence why I asked the question in the DW thread... One positive side is perhaps less shows means they'll all be really amazing episodes because they will have more focus on those few rather than a full seires, where there's always the odd duff ep or two....

Someone on another messageboard syas that Jack is not going to be in the next season of Torchwood. Now, this person has not quoted sources, and has in another post said that he is going from lead to guest star, so I'm not taking this as gospel. Anyone else heard anything about this because I thought Jack was a permament feature?
Ranger Elenopa,
You can get more with a kind word and a two by four, than you can with just a kind word.

Jack will be in season three, yes. This has been confirmed by Julie Gardner.
