What do viewers think of this episode?

Lots of laughs.

Not quite sure I like the heavy Farscape influence by having both Ben Browder AND Claudia Black in at the start.

Also I`m a bit confuzzled as to when this episode sits in the Atlantis Timelime - I don`t remember any of the Stargate Atlantians coming home immediately prior to the Wraith invasion. Or them expecting Daniel to join them. Or, if this episode happened AFTER the Wraith invasion, why more attention was not given it, as it surely must have been a major incident.

Jeff(?) Bridges is really looking positively ancient.

It`s a bit unfair for Stargate Command, and Jack, to expect Cameron Mitchell to set up another SG1 with complete and utter novices, especially as he himself has no experience in Gate travel. Surely SG2 should be promoted to be SG1, as they would now be the most experienced crew to be the flagship team?

John Smith: So what am I then? Nothing. I`m just a story.

Doctor: You`re an echo. That`s all. A TimeLord is so much more. A sum of knowledge; a code. A shared history. A shared suffering. Only it`s gone now, all of it. Gone forever.

Assuming you're also watching Atlantis Season 2 (if you're not, slight spoilers follow), this episode does seem slightly out of kilter with Atlantis. With the arrival of the ZPM on Atlantis at the end of their Season 1, they can now dial Earth and step through, but they have to come back to Atlantis via the Daedalus. Daedalus, of course, has to take the long trip back to Earth which takes about 18 days, according to episode 2 of Season 2 of Atlantis. So even if Daedalus headed back to Earth immediately after "The Siege part 3", it's got to be at least about 3 weeks after the beginning of Season 2 and presumably a bit longer, cos I doubt that Daedalus would arrive and immediately turn round and leave again.

Short answer: yes, the two seasons aren't running exactly side by side!

And that's Beau Bridges, not Jeff.

Couldn't agree more about them bringing in a complete stranger to set up a new SG-1. SG-1 is the flagship team of Stargate Command, so who's off visiting strange new worlds while SG-1 is defunct? And I would imagine that the guys in SG-2 are really honked off!!

I got confused with my Bridges. By the time I realised my mistake it was too late to amend it.

I`m glad someone agrees with me about SG1. None of my family do. In their amusement at all the visual jokes, they ignored (didn`t notice) the wrongness of the whole situation.

Those that know me know I dislike Sam (urgh!), but the sight of her in her dress uniform with that incredibley untidy and very definatly unmilitary head of hair made me gape in utter astonishment. High Ranking Officers do not wear their hair in the current fashion whilst in uniform, especially dress blues.

Nothing worse than crossing your Bridges. ;-)

I personally despise Season 9. Apart from "Prototype" which was SG-1 at its best, the rest of the series so far just isn't what I've come to expect. Up until the halfway point of the season, they haven't resolved the question, "Who's in command of SG-1, Sam or Cam?" and still haven't established what Jack and Hammond are doing now. It smacks of careless writing or - worse - they couldn't care about keeping the 'facts' accurate.

Oh dear. That doesn`t sound good.

Please don`t elaberate any further though, as I am unspoiled as far as season 9 in the USA is going.

Are you sure it`s the usual Stargate writers writing for this season, and not Farscape writers? Episode 1 of Stargate seems to be written as a Farscape injoke. A poor Farscape injoke at that.

It is mostly the same writers, so I don't understand why they seem to have been floundering so much with the storylines. It's not as if they didn't know that Rick was leaving and were thrown in at the deep end.

Maybe they were flummoxed by the producers taking on two Farscape stars and felt obliged to turn it into FarGate. Big mistake, IMO. They managed to make Vala not an Aeryn clone, but Mitchell is far too much like Crichton for my liking, therefore making it more difficult to disassociate the show from a Farscape rip-off.

It's a shame - I've loved this series for so many years and am really sad to be finding it disappointing in what I strongly suspect will be its final season. I know that some people are still loving it, and I'm happy for them, but just wish I felt the same way!

I believe the writer and producers etc wanted to call it something different as they said it was different etc but the channel bosses said no basically or at least so I've heard.

oooh, look.

The CORRECT place to chat about season 9 on Sky.

And it was still on page 1 of the forum.

It`s still to Farscapey for my liking. However, now that they seperated "Aeryn" and "Crichton" it got slightly better.

I never thought I would have thought this, let alone commit it to print, but I hated Jack`s cameo this week. What a waste. If the writers carry on like this, they will utterly ruin the charactor. How insensitive his words were.

Either write him PROPERLY, or leave him out completely. Just like they did Sam. Made my day that did. No Sam at all, not even a mention. Big Grin

It just doesn't make sense NINE series in and now he decides to quit. So what do Scriptwriters do? What they always do give the character who's leaving a complete personality change Mad It won't work!

I`d rather RDA not be in it at all than see what they`re doing to his charactor.

And he`s ALLOWING it to happen. that`s even worse. He`s Executive Producer, for goodness sake, he`s not some under contract actor who does as he`s told.

I know that...you see his long, lovely name at the beginning and end credits, who could ignore that? It's just so cynical and crass for him to let his character unravel like this Mad

Been watching the U.S. showing of this series, though there’s been parts that have been a bit confusing in continuity for me, personally I've enjoyed most of the series so far, just wish they wouldn’t put a break in half way through American series, watching the first series half again on Sky One while I wait for the second half of this series on U.S. Sci-Fi Channel.

*SEASON 10 NEWS*

Claudia Black (Farscape) joins the regular cast of SCI FI Channel's original series Stargate SG-1 in its upcoming 10th season, and the principal cast members of both SG-1 and its spinoff series, Stargate Atlantis, have signed on to reprise their roles in the recently announced new seasons, the network said.

Black, who plays the recurring role of Vala in SG-1's current ninth season, becomes a regular, joining stars Ben Browder, Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge, Michael Shanks and Beau Bridges, who will all return.

Meanwhile, Joe Flanigan, Torri Higginson, David Hewlett, Rachel Luttrell, Paul McGillion and Jason Momoa will all return to Stargate Atlantis.

Stargate SG-1 becomes the longest-running SF drama on U.S. television and will mark its 200th episode in the upcoming season

This 1 person view on how Stargate should end

quote:
i think this is how stargate is gona end, what do ya think

we have learned that the asguard are dying out because they cannot keep copying themselves

i think orin comes to warn samantha that the ori is bringing a huge fleet to earth's galaxy but are travelling conventionally so it will take them some time,he breaks the rules and gives sam knowledge of how to build ships and weapons

in the episode leading up to the 3 part final we see the asguard finally throw their technollogy sharing restrictions out the window on the condition the population is told of the stargate world, they will set up factories on earth and teach humans to replicate all of asguards technology.

in the 3 part final we see earth has skipped ahead several years and the whole population has built the biggest fleet ever, everyone in this galaxy is in it together so we see all types of technology mixed

some kind of plan is going on with the egg heads but we see the earth fleet and allies fleet(asguards, nox, jaffa, and who ever) travvelling out to meet the ori fleet to buy the egg heads some time

anyway the battle happens and all the cool stuff happens, the egg heads do their thing,(i carnt imagine the core of the final, just the skeleton)

then as things calm down we realise that the asguard put all their resources into preparing for the ori and the battle was the last blow, it killed almost all of them, in the last several years they had the choice to save their species or help earth against the ori, it went past the point of no return and they are doomed. they tell earth that they have become the 5th speicies in the circle (ancients, asguards, nox, furlongs, now earth) and are now the peace keepers of the galaxy and can inhabit the asguards home worlds as their own,

then the remaining asguard head towards atlantis to try to find a way to reproduce so they can one day come back and claim their homeworlds.

then the remainding asguard turn up at atlantis to destroy a wraith ship threatening the city, now the asguards are at atlantis we can finally explore more of the ciy and figure out what it all means (this will be the end of season 4 or 5 cliffhanger)

obviously the asguard now have a more secure role in the atlantis show bringing their knowledge and skill and we will know these asguards from the battle (maybe an asguard general will be a character)

the best thing is that we can have earth becoming really advanced becuase atlantis will start doing the same once the wraith are really developed and overwhelm the idea that a small group of humans in a small city can pose a threat to a whole speices who originally conquored a galaxy full of ancients

Nice ending to the show Bala I like it, even though I don't know who the Ori are. Cool.

Ori are evil, but their true evilness is yet to be shown! It would be crap if they find a way to defeat them before they grow strong and are a real threat. I am really enjoying it, but do miss the classic goauldness

Oh, I don`t know....

Baal is still around. Smile

I think the Ori are "real" gods, as they can do real miracles - even if the miracles are bad.

I think the Ori coming to this dimension/solar system are going to force the hands of the Ancients. They are, after all each others enemies.

I think Baal is great too! He is a 'class' evil bad guy! But remember the Ori use the priors to invade and will probably use their followers as soldiers so the Ancients cant step in (it being their way and all), but if what Orlan said about the Ori coming to destroy the Ancients is true then that must mean that they are going to have an all out war! It's kind of confusing, but im sure it will become clear what action is going to be taken. Cant wait until Saturday when i will have my hands on the next episode, i always get excited by stargate, i finished watching season 2 of Atlantis the other day, OMG what a cliffhanger
