(I MUST be smart... I was considering at work the influence Greek Tragedy has on the work of Baz Lurhman (thus far))
So as for B5... none of the planned computer games ever came to be, right? How cool would that of been with the graphics and flying star furies... so cool. So many hours of Rangers life could have been wasted playing it... oh well!
Many spin off computer games turn out to be pretty disappointing though. There could be a wonderful B5 one in the right hands. Still could, with TMOS in the offing. Never know your luck.
I have terrible problems with computer games. They never play right. And it's all so complicated now, with massive memory requirements and all the rest of it. And then your favourite game won't play anymore 'cause of blinking Windows XP... Enough to make me mourn for the days of my trusty Spectrum 48K. At least the damn games worked!
I'm not a computer game person; about the only one I got addicted to was Lemmings.
The only B5 game that was *sooooo* close to completion was 'Into the Fire'. Hopefully all the stuff is out there still and it could be ressurected if the film is a success.
What am I saying? The film *will* be a success. We shall all go and see it three times, and drag along a friend with us.
Must start writing.
Ranger Elenopa,
You can get more with a kind word and a two by four, than you can with just a kind word.
I'm already listing people to drag along... is it a film? I was confused by JMS being all secretive again... (Will you FOR ONCE GIVE A STRAIGHT ANSWER!!)...
If it is a film- I may have problems seeing it in such a rural area....
wait a moment... im going to Uni in Leeds (or thereabouts!!) ...BIG CITY! C'Mon Ranger!
... don't suppose there's any hope of a Marcus appearing ressurected... no. Joes not allowed to read FF - he wouldn't know the lengths people have gone to narrativly just to bring the ranger back. Would of been nice...
hell, at this stage i'd be glad to see Keffer! (Did I really say that?)
Not being allowed to read ff, and actually not reading ff are two very different things.
If it's a film it'll be a TVM, surely? I can't see him getting a cinematic budget. If he does it'll be limited release over here, which means I won't be able to see it.
All the clues, including the 2.35:1 ratio, point to a theatrical movie.
Plus, everything is being hush-hush. There is a guy on the other board with a friend in the industry and he can't find out anything about the project. We are talking BIG here, which looks to be much bigger than a TVM.
I will drag my friend along to see it, but he's got to get through my videos first. He's only up to 'Grey 17' and thoroughly enjoyed seeing Marcus beaten to a pulp
Ranger Elenopa,

I wasn't gonna say it... But I was thinking about No Stephen.... Joe'll handle it... he usually handles stuff pretty well.
Have commited the ultimate regressive act- have purchased THUNDERBIRDS on DVD... I'm seeing the movie on friday- and if it truly is as bad as everyone says i'm going to make a better film version in 10 or 15 years... (oh humour me and say i'll manage to get that high up and have that influence and aquire the rights...)
Sheridan- (Could they do it without Bruce?) Delenn- (Sheridan without Delenn... like Laurel without Hardy, The lone Ranger without that indian bloke- Lister without Curry!) Garibaldi- Could they keep Jerry away??? Ivanova- Ho hum... Would she do it again... or would she demand more money than the others? Lockley- Maybe- hopefully not! G'Kar- If Londo Londo- If G'Kar Zac- It'd be nice... and Jeffs always enthusiastic, Lyta- Isn't she dead? (She is in LOTRangers) Vir- Assuming Londo- which the Drak war would need Lennier- Doubtful... assuming he was still alive...
No Marcus- apart from a Frozen Cameo... No Talia- As above but with Formaldahyde... Keffer- WHO CARES? Na'Toth- Probably not... Sinclair- Oh I'd LOVE to see how he could possibly get into it a thousand years from the past and NOT minbari
The problem is that they all look so old. If it contained Sheridan it would have be pre 2281, so do they bother explaining how he manages to look so much older then than he did several years later?! Ivanova and Garibaldi too. The make up would help in Delenn's case, though she hasn't aged much anyway. G'Kar and Londo would also be conveniently hidden beneath make up, but we know Londo looked pretty old pretty quick anyway, since we saw his flash forward in c. 2275. The only ones who haven't aged hugely amongst the actors are Jason, Rick (), Billy Mumy, Pat Tallmann and Kenickie. Lyta's death or not would only matter with when it's set. Maybe they'd go with a new cast like in Crusade? That didn't work because Joe got strangled creatively by the studios. He might well want another go at working through that, just like Joss Whedon is currently on the big screen with Firefly.
When it is set will determine a bit who will be in it.
Big bets are on the Telepath War, which means Lyta and Lennier could well be in it, along with Bester.
There are rumours that it could continue the Crusade and Drak war storylines, which wouldn't be a problem with the aging of the actors. 'A Call To Arms' takes place five years after season 4, which was filmed, what six years ago? The aging would be just about right.
I've learnt from the past not to second guess JMS, so I'm just going to wait. Impaitently.
Ranger Elenopa,

I've always wanted to see Sinclair working with the Rangers on Minbar. Like City Of Sorrows, only in more detail (and sans bloody Sakai!). His days as a Minbari would also make a great story. We only know of it as the legend, rather than how it actually felt for Sinclair himself to be doing it.
But that is highly unlikely. The Telepath War is a ready made gem for the movies. Imagine the fantastic battle scenes we got in the war against Earth, all done for the big screen! Star Wars eat your heart out!
But I really would like to see Marcus again... At least if it was set several hundred years later, with him being woken up, there'd be less of a gaping Stephen-shaped hole.
I should think loosing Rick has been quite a blow to TMOS, but there are ways around it.
It can be mentioned in the script that Dr Franklin is tied up somewhere, possibly on a distant planet, with some very important work. We all know what a workaholic he was. The Dr part (assuming there is one) can then be taken by another actor, either one we already know, or a new face introduced as Franklin's assistant.
Sad, but do-able.
And yes, Rick's sudden departure may well have delayed any announcement of TMOS.

You're getting your beloved B5 back- stop being such a whiney little fanatic!
I thought "memory of shadows" - itself sort of implied the Drak war... If it were the telepath war I thought it would be "Memory of Vorlons,"....
Crusade... a bit of the storyline I could cope with... but I never really got to care too much about the charecters... apart from Galen... he was cool... but then he was very erm... well... Marcus-ish!
At least with a writer like JMS we know that he'll be able to cope with loosing actors and altering the work accordingly.
Anyone else would have said "Oh this is never going to work oh well i tried," After the studio axing the lead actor after one season... not Joe. Re-shape- Re-think, carry on and never look back.
... about re-placing (No, try again) about altering Ricks role for someone else.... maybe they'll bring in the Doctor from Crusade... that could work. Or even Dr Hobbs if she hasn't moved on to bigger and better things...
I think with all the B5 revival going on it could be original cast more than new people. Wouldn't mind seeing Turk the Drazi again (He carries boxes y'know!).
Should we make a "TMOS" wishlist and send it to JMS?
QOTD:
"STICK THE ROD IN!" "Sorry Scorpy, you're not my type."
If everybody in the world wrote to him and said "Put Marcus in TMOS!" then he might pay attention. I mean, yes okay, so it's unlikely that everybody in the world will write to him and say that, but we could pretend. How many letters would that be each between the three of us?!
Might be nice to see the doctor from the pilot again? Or bearing in mind that this film might not even be set on B5, they could have anybody really. Can't bring back Franklin Snr, either.
Letters between the three of us... with cutting, pasting, variations and lingusitic skills... about a thousand each... shall we? (Erm no- Ranger has principals and would hate to push JMS in a direction he doesnt wants to go in... when people interfere... Keffer can be the result!)
Going to see Thunderbirds today... I'm already draft an angry letter to Mr Frakes outlining what disapointed me most about the film and the fact that he needed to loose weight all the way through TNG... I know, I'm cruel, decidedly cruel!
Just a note to say while surfing the sky channels- I stopped on Sci-fi to see a trailer for Crusade which is being re-shown on Wednesdays at 9. FINALLY! I get to see the whole thing! (Sorry- ranger is sorta excited about seeing B5 related stuff she hasn't before... theres about 4 episodes of crusade I don't have...)
Thats so weird... I was thinking about Crusade a moment ago... "Never eat anything bigger than your head, never shoot pool at a place called pops and never eat at a place called moms."
I was reading about Crusade in one of my old cult TV magazines just the other day - all about how the studio kept interfering, and poor Joe couldn't take it the way he wanted it to go. I guess that's why it wound up so disappointing.
As for Thunderbirds, I think the film is probably okay if you don't think about the original at all! I'm annoyed that poor Gordon is getting sidelined again. He was the undersea guy, so he was always my favourite! But this is just kids, so it could either be bags of fun, or really bad.
Shall I make you jealous again by saying that I have everything B5 related on video. B5, Crusade, movies, LOTR, bloopers. Plus I have some 'dailies' footage from the end of 'Za'ha'dum'. Very interesting to watch.
Thunderbirds. Not going to see it. I'm afraid a flying FAB1 just doesn't work with me. I bet they don't have the machine gun behind the radiator grill.
Got to get back to writing my sermon for Sunday. I'm taking evensong.
Ranger Elenopa,

Do a good service do you? Used to have a fabulous vicar where I grew up, who used to visit all the kids in the parish during the week and borrow their stuffed toys. Then he'd have them all up in the pulpit on Sunday, and they'd help him deliver the sermon. It was always really cool when he had one of yours.
So you have the bloopers on video that we only have on sound then? The Minbari being really... profound; kerfungerboo and all.
