Idris Elba is in The wire on HBO which is meant to be very good, and of course Jack Davenport is all over the place. Was fully expecting a second season when it finished, if ever a show deserved one it was this show.
Yeah I remember this show well. I was considering buying the series one DVDs from Amazon recently but I'll have to wait 'til after xmas. I don't know how a second series couldn't have been commissioned (sp?) but that's TV execs for you. A movie would be great.

So that's three of us, maybe that's way it got cancelled, somtimes I think pandering to ratings is like pandering to a mob attacking a peadatrition, thinking he's a paedophile
Yeah, tv schedules are so full of soaps, reality shows and american imports they don't know what to do when they get a decent homegrown program. They could at least give things a chance - apparently Only Fools and Horses was nearly cancelled after it's first run. Where would BBC be without it now?

A pity, still better then loads of crap on at the moment, I reackon if it was a huge ratings winner C4 and world productions would never have just let it go like that. Still think he could have gotten a second series out of it, would have volentered to write it for him if he was so fed up with it!
Thanks for the link to the interview. It's good to know how the decision came about. I guess the ending of the series confused me as to why it wasn't continued. I guess there could have been more if Joe Aherne had the time to develop new stories. But on the other hand I'm glad he was able to make all the creative decisions. It's quality not quantity, I guess.

In my desparate attempt to keep the Ultraviolet thread going, I think I will write the movie (a forum movie that will play in one's head subject to copyrights and strength of imagination)! Not letting the fact that I have never written one before stop me any ideas people?
Ok. FIrst series the vamps tried to eradicate mankind. In the movie they try to turn everyone into vampires by doing some genetic engineering to turn bird-flu into a retro virus that does the business.
This is generally considered to be A Bad Thing, and the heroes (including a hero vamp of course, preferably a sultry vamp woman with long dark hair and...I'd better stop now) do what they can to put paid to the evil vamps' diabolical plans...hey this thing virtually writes itself!
If the vamps turn everybody into vamps, what will they eat?! Twit.
Mind you, the nuclear winter thing at the end of the series would rather tend to eradicate their foodsource too. Not very brainy on the whole, are they.
Been a while since I watched it... I keep meaning to watch it again, as I have the DVD, but I keep being distracted by wanting to watch Sapphire And Steel again. Maybe if Ultraviolet had had David McCallum and Joanna Lumley in it...
... and Blake's 7 keeps distracting me too. And Doctor Who.
And it's Christmas, so there's The Box Of Delights to watch as well...
