Watched Collateral a few days ago. I expected a lot more action and stunts etc but still rather enjoyed it. Was impressed with Jamie Foxx's role and Cruise was good too - very clinical and a lot of white hair
Saw the last bit of Die Another Day last night. Wasn't really watching, as I was just killing time for a bit, but it backed up my view that Halle Berry is deeply annoying. How the hell did she win an Oscar?! Her Bond girl isn't even all that good. She may have got all the press, but Michelle Yeoh in Tomorrow Never Dies was way better than her.
Not traditionally, no! Since Moore made way for Dalton, though, they've been building up the Bond girl roles. Living Daylights, GoldenEye and Tomorrow Never Dies all had good Bond girls, and good performances. Halle Berry's character in Die Another Day should have been good too, as like Wei Li in TND, she was supposed to be Bond's equal. She's just annoying though.

Which is a shame because Storm has some of the coolest powers (and she is my favourite!) I don't think she was rubbish in X-men more that her character was not utilised as well as they could have.

Seen the adverts for Collateral, Tom Cruise looks like he is from a video game.
X-Men is a disappointment like that all the way through though. Look at Cyclops! IMHO he was always the coolest in the comic strip and the cartoon. Film guy is just a wimp.
Lol, he is preety lame. I used to think Storm was well cool in the cartoon, in the film she was a total let down. And Joss Whedon wrote that awful toad line, although apparently she wasnt supposed to deliver it how she did.
I thought BIG plasma screens had a problem with picture quality? Whenever I go in the shops they always look rubbish. Gonna wait until they get better.
Can't belive they got rid of the old film thread! Maybe it was so big it was taking up too much space or something I was proud of that one.
Storm only has a little role in X-men and doesn't say much so Halle was OK. Don't think they should have picked her though, they should have gone with someone more unknown. For a start her voice is all wrong, the one in the cartoon's was well deep!
Cyclops is not the best character Mikey!!!!! He was always so straight laced and boring. Wolverine is I liked Gambit, would be cool if they brought him in, although I do admit his power was a bit odd, wonder what'd happen if he ran out of playing cards?!

Oh dear......just been looking at the red carpet Oscar night pics.....JAKE GYLLENHAAL WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO YOUR HAIR?!!! He's shaved it off .....looked nice in his Valentino suit though, his sis looked really nice in her dress. To add to that, Johnny Depp looks like a member of Showaddywaddy in his blue suit
Natalie Portman looked washed-out and dull in her dress I thought, and Hilary Swank didn't make the most of her big moment - what's the point in wearing a dress that only looks good from the back!
Some of the other ladies looked really elegant though, Cate Blanchett looked like a true starlet.
Best Actor: Jamie Foxx('Ray') Best Actress: Hilary Swank('Million Dollar Baby')
And I bought them both on Celebdaq last week! *smug* You can see the other winners on the bbc site.....maybe the C4 film section has the winners, I'm not sure.
I went to see 'The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou' yesterday. I recommend it. Except to people who like trendy movies which you don't have to actually WATCH. This is NOT trendy movie. It's very, very good but odd. I've never walked out of a movie theatre before with the whole audience so quiet. But not in a 'that was crap' way, nobody was complaining. Everybody was just thinking 'oh'. I LOVE movies that make you go 'oh'. You know that old adage 'made me laugh, made me cry, made me jump' that's bandied about so much. 'The Life Aquatic' does all of those things and does them well. Go see it. It's a beautiful movie for people who really like movies.
