...underwater adventurer Steve Zissou (Bill Murray) and his assorted crew (Willem Dafoe, Noah Taylor, Owen Wilson, Angelica Houston). I'd like to see it as I'm a fan of Wes Anderson's work. If you'd like to check out some of his earlier work, Rushmore is on on friday, channel 5, 12.20 am. I highly recommend it. The Life Aquatic With Steve ZissouRushmore

Don't like Fargo, for some reason. After I got totally blown away by O Brother Where Art Thou, I went through a phase of watching anything Coen related, but there was quite a bit that I didn't enjoy all that much. I saw most of Emerald Forest last night, but I missed the bloody end again! Every time that film is on, the telephone rings, or there's a power cut or something. On this occasion the aerial took a nose dive. Bloody typical. The world seems desperate to prevent me discovering exactly what Powers Booth is doing on that dam. Ah well, maybe next time. It's a remarkable film, anyway!

Fargo's a cracker. Perhaps not as good as 'O, Brother Where Art Thou?'. But, for me, that's probably the George Clooney factor!

George......... That voice of his is just so lovely. I'd never heard of that Bill Murray film before. Will check it out if I can, I think Bill Murray is great.

For all the Coen hype there is quite a lot I don't like either. Probably why they don't do that well at the Box office. quote: I saw most of Emerald Forest last night, but I missed the bloody end again!
I have the opposite problem. I always seem to miss the first few minutes, where Tommy actually goes missing. I can tell you what happens at the end if you like.

Not sure I want to risk spoilering it for anybody else, Vern. So far as the beginning is concerned, basically Tommy wanders off a ways, and is taken by the man we later see as his adopted father. He wanted a son, I guess. I didn't catch the beginning this time, either, but I'm pretty sure that's what I remember happening. Anyone?

I saw 'Team America: World Police' last night......am slightly ashamed to say that the scene with a projectile-vomiting puppet made me laugh so hard until I had a 'snort moment' I found the songs funny, but if you don't like the general South Park irreverence and gross stuff, you'll hate this film with a passion. It passed the time for me and was amusing in parts. If I was in the wrong mood though, this film would irritate the hell out of me! On the subject of Coen films, I loved The Hudsucker Proxy and Raising Arizona, I also enjoyed Oh Brother Where Art Thou. I meant to watch/tape Fargo the other night, it's on my 'to see' list!

They do have a gift for quirky stuff but I like that fact, they kind of veer away from the usual genres or add a kooky flavour. You can't deny their originality. You must see Fargo, I think it's their best. Sure you could buy it second hand for peanuts. Let me just go check it out................................. It's £5 but that's just because I've just snapped up the £4 one Quite glad I'm adding it to my collection.

Same here. I bloody love Raising Arizona. Top film. My sis saw Team America the other night. She said I'd love it. Anything with comedy projectile vomiting usually makes me laugh my tits off. I'm not proud of it.

Some forms of slapstick just crack me up. Am I alone in that watching someone hurt themselves is funny? The Pink Panther's crack me up.

Hehe, you have to see Team America, Vern! I was helpless Abs, I love the Pink Panther films too - I cannot count the times I've seen the 'parallel bars' scene(among many others) but it kills me every time, LMAO

Over the weekend I saw Lawn Dogs, Palookaville and The Bourne Supremacy. I didn't think The Bourne Supremacy was as good as the first film, but it was pretty good considering. Loved the fights and car chases, but there wasn't as much substance to this compared to 'Identity' IMO. The jerky camerawork did my head in at times though - slightly overdone! I enjoyed it though, Matt Damon owns that role now, he's great in it.

Saw Sneakers (again!), Evil Dead I (again!) and Stranger On The Third Floor. (Er... again!). But that's Robert Redford, River Pheonix, Sidney Poitier, Bruce Campbell and Peter Lorre. Nobody's going to say no to that lot!

Know what you mean about Supremacy but still enjoyed it. Cool hand to hand combat and knife fighting. Did anyone see Frequency? I thought it was quite good. For some reason I'd got it mixed up with the horror film White Noise. Nice easy film, endearing, bit of tension and I've always liked Dennis Quaid.

I'm afraid to say that I watched 'Field of Dreams' over the weekend. It's a film I've always thought was wonderful and I don't care a jot how tacky it is! It has Kevin Costner, James Earl Jones and baseball in it. What is there not to like?!

Yeah watching that big car chase with the crash at the cinema was too much. I actually couldnt look at the screen too much cos it was hurting my head.

The fact that it's just a pumped up version of rounders, a game which girls at school play in the summer. And don't even get me started on that World Series crap. Kevin and Earl are excellent though and so they compensate. My cousin met Kevin Costner. My cousin was looking at all these massive super yachts in Greece and he saw him on one. He said 'Hello Mr. Costner', Kevin said,' Hey buddy, d'you wanna beer'? and my cousin said, 'Thank you very much'. I think that was about it but it makes him sound like an alright bloke. Did anyone see 'The Cat People' last night? Was a bit rubbish (not surprisngly) and I wasn't too sure I liked the way they treated the cats to make the film but it did have the sound track done by David Bowie.

I idn't bother watching Cat People last night, as I'd seen it before. It's not very good. The original was better, but to be honest I didn't like it very much, either. Loved the fact that it was followed by a nature documentary narrated by Simon MacCorkindale though. One of those sweet little coincidences.

Baseball isn't like rounders. I mean, I tell Americans that to piss them off. But it isn't like rounders. There's approximately a million gajillion rules which are impossible to understand unless you're an actual rocket scientist. I love baseball movies. And it's a fun game to watch. If you can chill out and have a beer and a sandwich. Not to pay attention to, then it's just dull. Like cricket really. I like watching cricket on a lazy day with a beer and a sandwich but it's dull if you pay too much attention. And, 'Hitch'? I would watch ANYTHING with Will Smith in it. Almost literally anything. Having said that, though, I haven't gotten around to renting 'I, Robot' yet.

Cricket is only worth watching when David Gower is playing. This has been scientifically proven. As for baseball, it's a lot easier than rounders. The bat and the ball are three hundred times bigger, for one thing! I hate sports movies. The Americans are fixated on them. They have baseball movies, football movies, basketball movies. We have Bend It Like Beckham! I mean, can you imagine a cricket movie doing big business at the box office?! Actually, I guess nowadays we have Bend It Like Beckham and Wimbledon. So that's two!

Man I used to hate rounders. It was so utterly pointless. Ooh run to that bit, now stand there a while till you are allowed to run to the next bit. Or if u were really lucky u got to stand around and attempt to catch the ball.
