The Scary Movies do nothing for me. I think you have to have seen the films that they're spoofing, or you just don't get the joke. The other day they were watching a clip from the new one on This Morning and John Barrowman was all excited, and everybody was laughing at the "really funny" spoof of the Tom Cruise War Of The Worlds. Didn't mean anything much to me! Big Grin I had the same problem with those Top Gun spoofs that Charlie Sheen did.

Ah you see I've seen War of the Worlds but not Top Gun, but these poking fun at each other gags usually pass right over my head anyway.

Nope, sorry!

I saw Brokeback Mountain....it started slowly, drew me in and left me reeling(and crying).

Heath Ledger's performance is incredible, his character is both fascinating and heartbreaking to watch. Jake Gyllenhaal is perfect as optimistic romantic Jack, and Michelle Williams really impressed me.
Shame about Anne Hathaway's casting, that was the only thing that didn't quite match up. She just didn't look the part.

I'm kinda glad I missed this one at the cinema in a way....I think I'd have looked like a snivelling mess upon leaving, lol.
Beautiful cinematography and direction by Ang Lee. So much is said without words in this movie...I found it very moving.

I may have to catch that one...but why do women enjoy crying so much?

And yet when I make them cry it's somehow different Roll Eyes

Hmm, I don't know if I enjoyed the crying really - if I'd have been at the cinema I think I'd have been fighting back the tears for fear of looking silly...I do like being made to feel and think by a film - that I did enjoy, but it left me in bits. Then I couldn't sleep because the film stayed with me and I wasn't able to switch my brain off for a while!

It had exactly the same effect on me, I was so moved. The bit that really got to me, was when Ennis meets Jack's parents. You could tell the poor mother knew, wanted to reach out to Ennis but was another repressed soul, married to a bigoted inbred and stuck in the middle of nowhere. The look on her face when she let Ennis take Jack's shirt made me weep openly.
A wonderful film with brilliant performances, deserving all the praise and awards it recieved

This thread hasn't been posted in for over a year Frown

I saw Little Miss Sunshine last night. It made me laugh and cry, the casting was inspired, and it's a wonderful story with some very sad, raw moments but also wickedly funny comedic touches. I loved it.

Thanks for the good news about Little Miss Sunshine Kat. I have debated several times over buying it.

I haven't watched anything 'new' recently. I did finally get get round to seeing Superman Returns and Elizabeth. I failed to connect with the new man in tights - though the film itself was enjoyable.

Oooh how spooky that you watched it the night before, Ruby! Eek I wasn't expecting it to be as poignant as it was.

I've been meaning to go and see 'Control' at the cinema, but haven't got around to it so far. I'd better get my skates on or I'll miss it!

I must admit at the end I did watch with my face in my hands, even tho it occured to me later ,little girls posturing with make up on pretending to be adults should have been when I had my face in my hands...

I watched Little Miss Sunshine a little while ago; I thought it was very good.

It was definitely better that they avoided the Hollywood ending where she wins because she's beautiful inside.

I liked the fact that they repudiated the competition, especially after the horror stories I've heard about what goes on behind the scenes.

Did you watch the deleted/alternate scenes?

I haven't watched the extras yet, but I will do.

I loved how they did the pageant scenes too. I found the ending hilarious Big Grin

Hey Sumaiya Wave

I haven't seen the new Superman yet, but I loved the original movie from childhood so I'm not sure if I'll take to the remake. I will give it a go when I get the chance. Smile

I can't believe Heath Ledger is dead.....the news last night shocked and upset me.

I loved him ever since '10 Things I Hate About You'. His silent intensity in Brokeback Mountain was incredible. I hope his performance as the Joker in the forthcoming Batman film will turn out to be a fitting epitaph, the pictures look stunning.

R.I.P Heath, I will miss you. Frown

Innit Micks.

By the way all the hype surrounding Heath in The Dark Knight was justified. Awesome film and a memorable Joker.
