In 2003 the BBC said late 2004 or early 2005. In early 2004 they said Jan 2005, in late 2004 they said feb 2005. They filmed it summer 04. The BBC is in turmoil just now with massive public complaints & demonstarations against certain shows and with staff rebellions due to jobs axed, so they can withhold 'Dr Who' as an Ace up their sleeve for as long as they like. What do you make of the sorry state they are in just now?
So long as ITV don't screen some big holiday movie opposite it.
It really does seem to be getting off to a good start though. Some monsters "we'll all love", apparently, and a promise to scare kiddies wherever possible. And John Barrowman as Captain Jack, who is currently looking like he might be my favourite TV character of 2005!
He's appearing in more than one episode - a character described in at least one source as "a bit like Han Solo". A faintly dodgy character, whose path crosses the Doc's. Where he fits in, I don't know, as I'm avoiding spoilers.
John Barrowman is a highly respected theatre actor, anyway, as well as a former CBBC presenter. He did Sunset Boulevard and Anything Goes, amongst other musicals. British, but spent a lot of time in America, and still has the accent.
well... do mine eyes deceive me or does he look reminiscent of dear old wesley wyndham price in the second shot?.
He does look ....nice.
Cap`n Jack, eh?? a "faintly dodgy character" . -wonder if HE had any birdwatchers in his family when they were choosing surnames?

Doctor: You`re an echo. That`s all. A TimeLord is so much more. A sum of knowledge; a code. A shared history. A shared suffering. Only it`s gone now, all of it. Gone forever.
Never noticed any Wesleyish similarities, but I haven't seen much of him since he abandoned CBBC more than ten years ago now. Ever so slightly pre-Wes! I have high hopes for Captain Jack and all his potential dodginess, anyway. Looks like he won't be arriving in the show until June though. No fair! Getting the Daleks at the end of April though... Always assuming the start of the series isn't delayed.
I'm still nervous about the idea of a Doc with a proper budget, mind. Yes, I know it makes perfect sense to actually be able to afford to make the show, but still... Imagine Blake's 7 without the controls on the Liberator wobbling. Somehow it just wouldn't look right!

A PROPER budget?? you mean REAL cash to spend on props??
On Doctor WHO?
No rubber monsters with holes to let actor see?
No walls that wobble when you get too close?
REAL actual dosh?
I think I need to go lie, before the shock gives me a heart attack.
THEY`D BETTER NOT CHANGE A *SINGLE* THING ABOUT THE DALEKS. Even if they do look tatty 40 years on. I want my sink plunger and egg whisk untouched. UNTOUCHED I TELL YOU!!

The Daleks have been given a spit and polish, supposedly. No more than is likely for them to have changed in themselves, though. After all, the Cybermen update their own design constantly. They'd never change something like the Dalek shape though. It's far too iconic.
Head of Dalek design: "Our new ecotomorphic shell in corporates legs to combat our greatest enemy - STAIRS!" Supreme Dalek: "How dare you undermine our iconic shape! We will lose corporate identity! EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!"

Hoversleds!
Still didn`t make them immune to Ace weilding a good old baseball bat. Love that scene. just LOVE it!!

lol!
I bet it gave the man inside a bit of a head ache!

IIRC they aren't allowed to say that
They have to!!
Because the only OTHER phrase that they could possibly use has been copywrited by the Borg.
