I thought Donna was the worst thing in it again, but there you go...

The Doctor's Daughter I loved this one a lot. After the last two episodes, the series needed a kick and this episode certainly seemed to provide it in spades. Giving The Doctor a child could've been a disaster but in the end I didn't mind how Jenny came to being and I also loved Georgia Moffat in the role. You need a good actress to sparkle with David Tennant and she was able to do that in spades. It was obvious that The Doctor wouldn't easily take to a trigger happy child so I appreciated that Donna did push the issue in the only she could. Jenny's butt kicking skills and gymnastics aren't things we've seen with this Doctor and I did find her go through the lasers to be rather impressive. Donna's quipping on Jenny's military skills didn't cease to be interesting. If I had did have serious complaint it was The Doctor, Donna and Martha leaving Messaline before Jenny proved that even a bullet can't kill her. What are the odds she'll resurface in the finale? I wouldn't be that shocked to be honest. The Hath made for an interesting species and I did like that with Martha, they got to be shown as a sympathetic creatures. The soldiers were pretty one note, although I did like Cline. General Cobb not so much. Is it wrong that I actually cheered The Doctor for pointing a gun to Cline? Donna's statement to Martha about travelling with The Doctor forever suddenly filled me with dread. Definitely my favourite episode so far this season after The Fires Of Pompeii, so 10/10 from me.

the fans have been going bonkers over this 'daughter' business online so it was hilarious that an explanation was dealth with before the opening credits came up.

so true!! But fans being fans, and needing to argue over something, the agueing is now whether Jenny is a "real" Time Lady or not!!

I'd say not, as she hasn't been to the Academy. She won't have a regenerative cycle either, at least the way it was in Old Who. Until we hear a definite yes or no, it's all open to speculation, though.

Okaaay... So what are non academy Gallifreyans called? Are they not Time Lords (Ladies)?

ooh oo oooo So if the Doctor did do the norty deed with anyone now, they wouldn`t be Time Lords ever as there is no Academy to attend. Does that mean they won`t be able to regenerate at all??

Ordinary Gallifreyans are just Gallifreyans. And certainly the way it was always assumed was that it was just Time Nobles who regenerated. When the Master was offered a new regenerative cycle by the High Council (In "The Five Doctors"), it suggested tha regeneration was somehow given to Time Lords, perhaps after graduation, rather than it being something that they have naturally. People have been theorising over that sort of thing for decades, though. Nobody really knows for sure.

Very Interesting, that. Infers a whole new class system that I didn`t realise about the Time Lords. Hmmmm.

I still don't really get how or why Jenny came back to life????

Well, the way I see it, and of course Mickey will correct me if I`m wrong. Much like the Doctor regrowing his hand after it got chopped off, then Jenny came back to life, all because it was within the first 12 hours of regeneration. As to why she didn`t regenerate and change her appearance, I suppose that could be put down to how she was "conceived".

If it was within the first fifteen hours, she wouldn't have needed to regenerate. Whether or not she can regenerate, we don't actually know. It could also be because of the terra-forming process, maybe.

I think i understand....no wait,I still don't get it! So...if the Doctor (or Jenny) gets injured they can heal themselves within the first 15 hours, but if not they regenerate??? I'm confused!! I thought it was to do with the terra-forming too because when she came back to life that light came out of her mouth which looked similar to the terra-forma whatsit. But then someone else said to me they thought it was like the time vortex or something!!

In The Christmas Invasion, the Sycorax Leader chopped off Doctor 10`s hand with a sword. Because the Doctor was within his first few hours after regenerating, his body was still "mutating" into it`s current shape, and so he regrew his hand. For a regeneration to take place, a Time Lord must die, or be very near death. quote: Originally posted by luv pacey:I thought it was to do with the terra-forming too because when she came back to life that light came out of her mouth which looked similar to the terra-forma whatsit. Personally, I thought it was the Time Vortex stuff that came out of Doctor 10`s mouth while he was recouperating after his regeneration. Which in turn looked to be the same stuff he sucked out of Rose after she destroyed the Emperor Dalek`s fleet and resurrected Capt Jack.

However, until the writers say definitively, no-one knows whether Jenny is a fully fledged Time Lady. Or whether her unusual conception means she will not regenerate in the accepted Time Lord manner. Or it may even be a combination of Time Lord genes AND terraforming gas that caused her to be regenerated into the same body. I suppose THAT will be answered whenever they want to bring Jenny back, and whether Miss Moffat is available to recreate the role.

For a regeneration to happen, a Time Lord must be near death. If they've died, it's too late! Regeneration prevents death, but it can't cure it. Not even for a Time Lord.

Thanks for that, Mickey. I seem to remember a regeneration where there were sobbing companions BEFORE the regen, so I thought the Doctor had already died.

One --> Two - collapses and seems to be unconscious. Two --> Three - awkward one, as it was induced by the High Council. Three --> Four - collapses and is unconscious. Four --> Five - falls off a building and blends with the Watcher (that's the one with sobbing companions). He's still talking when the process begins, though. Five --> Six - poisoned and falls into a delirium of sorts. Six --> Seven- er... falls over. Least said the better... Seven --> Eight. Gets shot and goes into cardiac arrest. Probably goes into a self-healing coma and is misdiagnosed as dead. He says that he died, but it's that blasted TVM, so it's an awkward one. They screwed up on a number of details. Eight of course has never regenerated in-story, so we have no way of knowing how NIne came about. Nine --> Ten - energy drain, but clearly not yet dead, as he was still standing up. Again to an extent it's something that you can interpret how you like. Seven --> Eight is the only one where they've hinted at regeneration working after death being a possibility; in fact it's often been insinuated that regeneration has to kick in first. Check out the Doctor's reaction to the Master's "death", after all. Or the alleged Master's death, anyway. I still refuse to accept that that was the Master...

Yes. Wes says it in season two, after Angel has sacked them all.

Aah yes! And don't Angel and Doyle say something similar in the episode where Doyle dies? Just before Doyle jumps onto the big light explosive thingy (yes that's what it's called! lol!), he says something like "the good fight, eh?". That episode is sooo sad, makes me cry everytime! Especially when i've watched it since Glenn Quinn died.
