Wow! Finally watched this last night and I don't even know where to begin!!

I thought some parts of it were a bit tenuous, the explanantions of the regenerations etc. And, yes some bits were cringeworthy, like when the Doctor and Rose 'recognised' Gwen. There was a hell of a lot going on in the first half, sometimes it was a bit all over the place, but overall I felt it was a fantastic end to the series!

I thought there were a few discrepancies though, maybe someone can help?? Big Grin Was unsure as to why Rose had to return to he parallel world but Mickey didn't?? And also why Doctor 2's human brain could hold all the Time Lord knowledge but Donna's human brain couldn't??

Also won't the Doctor 2 feel like a caged animal, trapped in one world and time?

Looking forward to Torchwood next year if it is Mickey and Martha, Big Grinit would make sense and stop more and more new people arriving; wonder if the Doctor's new companion will be someone we've already met???

I'm wondering and questioning a lot here, Confused but I did really enjoy it! Must watch it again tonight I reckon!

Neither Rose nor Mickey *had* to go back. Rose's mother had a life there, though, with a husband and new son. The Doctor felt that it was better for Rose to go back and spend the rest of her life with them, rather than with him. She'd never be able to see them again, and she can never properly be with him. Sending her off with a body double is creepy, weird, and only likely to appeal to the writers of bad fanfic, but in theory it does give her a happy ending. Wink As for Ten mk ii, he was generated from a Time Lord hand. He was a Time Lord with human bits. Donna, on the other hand, was just a human who got a bit Tome Lordy. So he could cope and she couldn't. Doc mk ii is very, very. very clever. If he wants to go travelling he will. No TARDIS, maybe, but he can easily build something else. There's a whole other universe there for him to explore. I'm sure he's going to want to go looking at it at some point.

As for TW... actually, more new people arriving would be far better, as it's supposed to be a separate show. A lot of people watch TW who don't watch DW, and the crossing over is unfair on them, and against the original spirit of the show. I like Martha and Mickey myself, so I'm not too bothered (and I don't think Mickey will stay because of Noel Clarke's growing film career), but a lot of people are annoyed. Still, we'll see.

Time Lordy. Not Tome Lordy. That would probably be some sort of book...

Yeah, I knew why Jackie wanted to go back. I just thought I heard the Doctor say something to Rose like "You can't stay with me".. or "You have to go back".. or something??? But I may be wrong as I was exhausted last night when I was watching it.. deffo rewatch time tonight Big Grin

Thanks you muchly for your thoughts on my ponderings Mickey!!! Big Grin

Did you manage to feel a little sorry for Donna in this ep or did she still annoy you??
I actually sympathised with her at the end, she irritated me as "DoctorDonna" though.
Maybe cos her Grandad knows how "Brilliant" she could become he'll encourage her in some other way and she'll end up a better person after all???... Just some thoughts.... **shrugs**

Not remotely sorry for Donna, no. Shame what happened, but because what happened to her was so similar to happened to Charley in "The Girl Who Never Was" (Eighth Doctor), I was just expecting her to get her memories back anyway. That's what happened to Charley, and it didn't kill her. Watching what happened to Donna, I just assumed that it wasn't over, and that she'd remember eventually, so why feel sorry?

If the Doctor did say "You have to go back", or something similar (I don't remember what he said. My interest waned as soon as Jack, Martha and Mickey left, and I realised I was going to be stuck with another awful Doc'n'Rose scene), he was probably meaning it in terms of, "You have to go with your mother, you can't stay with me and never see her again, I can never be yours", rather than "If you stay the world will collapse", or somesuch.

Rose had to go back to the parallel world because she was listed as among the dead after the battle of Canary Wharfe. She`s been gone for 2 years, that`s rather a long time to explain away.

As Mickey stayed in the parallel world after their first visit, he isn`t listed as being around when the Battle took place.

I don`t think it was actually said that Doctor 2 had a human brain. All it said was that he had one heart, and would now age like a human.

I agree about the comment about how Doctor 2 will feel being trapped in one place and time, and with a person who would be pining for someone he looks like. I was a bit surprised that Donna didn`t step in to reconcile the 2 Doctors like she did with Jenny and the Doctor. But I suppose now that she was DoctorDonna, she saw why the Main Doctor rejected both Jenny and Doctor 2, who were both created in sort of similar circumstances, but whereas Jenny didn`t kill, Doctor 2 did, and in a big way.

I felt desperatly sorry for Donna.

I suppose things were happening far to quickly for the Doctor to do anything at that point.

But I`m sure that somehow, if he`d kept his twin around, that thepair of them would have managed to save Donna. The twin had more in common with Donna, than he did with Rose. I loved the moment the twin and Donna shared together onboard the TARDIS when they stood together against the bulkhead while everyone was piloting the TARDIS towing the planet.

Cheers Mickey and Angelus, after having watched it again, (twice actually!) I get that it's not that she has to go back to prevent the worlds collapsing or whatever, but more practical reasons, like you say cos she was already technically dead (but then again she never actaully really exisited in the parallel world??..), cos her Mum and Dad were there, because she wil help Doctor 2 overcome his blood-thristy urges.. etc, etc.

I do wonder whether the 'Donna-remebers scenario' will crop up at some point though??

I`m hoping so, even if it does kill her (therby properly fulfilling Dalek Caan`s prophesy).

I don`t mind if the death of Donna thru remembering happnes on Torchwood, or SJA.

Probably more likely on SJA as that is set in London, which is where Donna lives, so SJ is more likely to be able to get to Donna quicker that the Cardiff based Jack. Although personally, I would love to see a proper scene between Jack and Donna.

I did wonder if Dalek Caan's prophecy just referred to Donna losing her memories of the Doctor, so the 'new version' of her 'died'.. but maybe not then???

Apparently they said in Confidential that the memory wipe is Donna's death. Certainly the story won't be carried on in DW or SJA, as they're not allowed to interconnect the different shows that much.

Hee hee!! I realised!

So that's the end of Donna then, so it seems... kinda glad in one way, as she did do my head in and I cannot be two faced about that fact, but I did sympathise with ther in the last ep, I've got to admit she had a very sad ending Crying

Anyone listen to the Doctor Who prom on BBC Radio 3 on sunday from 11am?

I finally managed to listen to it last night.

Brilliant enough just listening to it. But can`t wait to see it on TV whenever THAT is going to be.

Appearances by Daleks, Cybermen, Sonatarrons, Davros, the Ood, and a Graske.
Also Jackie, Mickie, Martha and Donna.

Special guest appearance by The Doctor himself in a specially commisioned mini story.

Music Of The Spheres

Yay, the last bit of Doctor Who filmed material before David Tennant headed for the RSC. It's amusing.

- The Doctor's in his blue suit. The Graske warns him about a space portal.

- The Graske sounds different in this. He stole Ten's water pistol.

- Links to the Albert Hall. Nice touch. Wish I had been there.

- The Doctor played the tuba in 1895. Course he did. He's composing in this episode.

- Ode To The Universe? Love it!

- The end credits have an old version of the theme. 8/10.

Congrats to Mr Moffat!!

Maybe next year RTD will get the award with Midnight??

Or will the Moff win again with the Library 2 parter?

I hated Midnight, so I'm hoping for Moffat again. Too hard to say yet, though, as we don't know what else might be up for it. This year the Moff was up against Captain Jack Harkness by Cath Treganna, which is still my favourite episode of Torchwood. I did rather hope she'd win, though there was, realistically, very little chance of that. Torchy could get nominated again, and BSG is sure to be. All depends on the opposition, doesn't it.

Still, he's got as good a chance as anyone. Smile

It won't happen but I'd like RTD to nail one for The Stolen Earth/Journey's End but congrats to Moffatt.

Anyone able to help??

I`ve just bought the 25th Anniversary DVD of The Five Doctors.

It has an Easter Egg in the form of an episode commentary featuring David Tennant. But I can`t find it. I know it`s there because other people are listening to it.

Can someone tell me how to access it?

Ta very muchly.
