Heheh, you're not the first to say so I regard it as a mental exercise, in much the same way that some people might do a crossword or play Countdown.

Well it's nice to have a hobby that sharpens your mind.

Quit the p*ssing contest you two. Don't make me come in there and break you two up. Both of you have lovely qualities and I'm sure nobody is lacking anything. Shake (hands that is) and make up.

Nobody's contesting anything! Or nobody having a contest, anyway, as the first thing I said didn't quite make sense the way I wanted it to... Hang on, I'll come in again. Nobody's having any contests! Not intentionally, anyway. To get back to books, anyhow... Bought The Lovely Bones today, thanks to heavy enthusiasm from the ER Forum bunch, for my niece's birthday. Lays on the sentiment a bit thick for me, I think, but it's very nicely written. Got good reviews here too, didn't it?

I will read Bag Of Bones but I've now managed to get Dead Famous by Ben Elton, it looks really good and I need a change of genre so I'm gonna read that first.

You really do need help, Bug. On the other hand, it truly is a rare gift. Maybe you should take it on the stage.

Yes Bug, you are addicted. Think you should go to a Sexaholics Anonymous Meeting. Listen to me 'Hello, Pot? This is Kettle, you're black'

And when you're lying? And isn't the pot supposed to call the kettle black? Mine's mostly transparent glass, with chromey bits top and bottom. BTW I already go to Sexaholics Anonymous, great place to meet women You know how it is when you're on a diet and all you can think of is food?

I'm beginning to suspect that Bug is actually Christian from Nip/Tuck. We'll know if we ever get to see Christian's kettle. Has anybody spotted it yet? Is it transparent with chromey bits?!

I've only seen one or two eps of that, but if you mean the womanising surgoun then nope, not even close. In fact I couldn't stand the guy, treating women like disposable willy-warmers! But I won't take offence and make a fuss, instead I'll store this up and use it against you when you least expect it. See, I respect women so much that I even emulate them I've watched the entire first series of 'The Office' tonight...does it show?

I don't like the first series of The Office so much. It's better when Neil, the Anti-Brent, turns up. As for Christian; he grows on you. He's a lot more complex than he appears. I've really become rather fond of him.

I watched the second series a few weeks ago, I'd d/l'd the DVD, and liked it so much that I bought both series in a box-set (£18 from Play, can't be bad). It's a shame the box-set that includes the Xmas eps isn't out yet, I'll have to buy them separately (although I've already acquired them of course). And don't try to make out that the Nip/Tuck guy's actually OK. At some indeterminate time in the future I shall get all huffy with you and you won't know why. And if you ask me if somthing's wrong I'll say no. And if you insist on knowing what's wrong then I'll give you The Line! And verily thou shalt rue the day!

Christian is okay! He's only the way he is about women (well, relationships, rather than women per se) because he was abused as a kid (or so the evidence suggests). And besides, he's cool. But you can still get all huffy with me at some indeterminate time in the future. Just so long as it doesn't involve coming to get me in a six foot freaky bunny suit, to get your revenge by dramatically whispering about the end of the world. But please, not The Line! Or any dancing.

Reading I, Robot at the moment and it's so annoying that it's nothing like the blooming film, still a good book thought but it's like Phillip K Dick's short stories have been turned into films over the years mainly Minority Report and they're practically nothing like the films either. They should say based on a concept by Author, not based on a story etc... if it's nothing like it! Also readingBook 7 of Wheel of Time and 'My Family and other Animals'

He was one of the formost animal conservationists of our time and founded Jersy Zoo, pioneering breeding programmes of some of the worlds rarest species, including some bird species from Mauritius like the Pink Pigeon. An amazing man with great character and an enthusiasm which was boundless. He was very good at getting animals which are notoriously hard to breed to do so.

Ok Mickey, you're off the hook quote: He was very good at getting animals which are notoriously hard to breed to do so.
What, like supermodels? Fear, I've seen the I, Robot books around with Will Smith's pic on the front, and the fact that they're tying it in that closely makes it really dodgy that it's not actually the book of the film. Arguably it's a lot better than the film of course, but it's still not many people will think they're buying.

I never liked Gerald Durrell's books, which is weird given my love of animals. Always thought Lawrence was the better writer. Dan and Jule Mannix are ones to look out for too, especially Jule's Married To Adventure. As for I, Robot - fascinating book which has absolutely no resemblance to the film whatsoever. It's closer to the plot of Robin William's Millennium Man, though noticeably better than that too. The only link between Will Smith's film and Asimov's book are the three laws of robots. And they've been in every bit of robot based sci-fi since the fifties, so it's not much of a link!
