Good teachers make all the difference. I was so lucky going to a good school. I was always generally an average student with the odd good moment but I'd hate to think what I'd of been like if my school was crap. Had to move schools twice to fine a good one though, it wasn't easy!
Do you have any idea waht you want to do for A-level or can't you decide yet? I always wanted to do Biology, my school did Geology which was really cool and then Chemistry becasue I actually enjoyed it until I did A-level and failed it spectacularlyBig Grin

Yeah yeah yeah, admit it, you're a soap addict. You probably tape it when you go on holiday.

Eastenders has good bits? Confused You're forgiven. I used to watch Neighbours and Home and Away when I was at school, and I even watched Eldorado!(before your time) but that was mainly to watch Jessy Birdsall who was yum in a bad boy kind of way.

Hooray for Jesse Birdsall! Smile He was so cool in Bugs.

And that is very nearly book related, as there were books to accompany the first series...

*Tenuous, yes, but back on topicish*

I loved Bugs. It had Henry (Craig McLachlan) from Neighbours in it and I had a crush on him.

Abs - Yep, Katie.

I'll have to look out for those books - I need some quality holiday reading!

Hmm...my physics class somehow managed to make the teacher have a nervous breakdown :S Probably 'cause everyone always wanted to know why things happened. Oh, and my friend and I managed to destroy a plug while attempting to rewire it.

Aww shucks folks, you'll make me blush Big Grin

I've been reading the Bourne series, Bourne Identity etc. Bit unusual for me in that they aren't sci-fi or fantasy. They're very good, although they can drag in places. The films may as well have been called something else, the plots and the characters are completely different. I'm on the last book now, and it's shaping up nicely Smile

Becks, I've definitely got a sciencey brain, but it still took me a while to get to grips with the stuff when I started doing O-level, and again when I did A-level. For a long time you have all these facts floating around in your head, but eventually you start to form links between them. After a while you get a picture of How Things Work, an understanding. It has loads of gaps but it helps you to remember stuff and work stuff out. But generally it wasn't until the second year that it all started to come together for me.

Then you move up to the next level, degree for example, and find out that the picture you developed was complete pants. That's mainly because you were told a load of over-simplified rubbish because they don't think you can handle the truth, and you have to start again building a new picture.

BTW, back on the subject of books, a mate of mine has just launched a new book-related website. Basically what you do is sign up (for free), add a list (or lists) of your books and then do searches to find people with the same books on their lists. You can then send them messages to chat about the books.

The only problem is that in order to start a chat you have to be a premium subscriber, which costs £4 per month. Replying to the messages of others is free though, so you could just sign-up for free and wait for someone to send you a message. Just as long as everyone else doesn't do the same thing Wink

It's an interesting idea, thought it might be of interest to you folks. However I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post the link here, anyone know what the rules are?

I've seen people posting not dissimilar links in the past, Bug. I can't see it causing offence.

Ok, it's your fault if I get banned Razz

http://www.connectviabooks.com/home.aspx

Strictly speaking we were the first year to do GCSE, but it was still the O-level exam, and we got both an O-level certificate and a CSE one for each subject. It was the transitional year, kinda confused if you ask me.

The two directors in my new company are 22 and 25! Luckily we took on a 35-year-old last week so I'm no longer the oldest! Eek

And don't forget; women age, men mature Wink

How long has it taken you to read those books Bug! You've been talking to me about them for months!

Do you like vampire books Katie? If so I know some very cool authors to recommend and they're all VERY readable, infact in some cases I can't put them down and just read until 5 in the morning. You'll enjoy your holiday lots but you'll only see as far as your sun lounger and the bookBig Grin

Yep, muchly. Haven't actually read many for a while though, probably 'cause I've been reading and rereading Far From The Madding Crowd for half the year!

I'm going back to the same place I've been the last two years so I don't really need to see much (apart from the Spaniards of course!) and I usually just end up sitting around reading til about 4 most nights anyway!

I can't help being slow Razz

It's taking me a while to get through the books, I'm only reading on the train and often during the slow bits my mind wanders.

And I don't read those little kiddie-pamphlets you read Abs Razz

Well, not right now anyway...

And you wouldn't know this, but books without pictures take longer Razz Big Grin

And what kiddie pamphlets would those be?

Katie you have to read the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter books by Laurell K. Hamilton, they're brillSmile Seen some of them in Waterstones but don't know if they'll start from book one or just have random volumes from the series. They can be ordered for sure anyway. Good luck book hunting, I'm sure you'll find some goodies.
