Yes, I have just realised what I wrote. My apologies to you all, to Channel 4, and to The League Of Single Entendres.

Ouch. Red Face

He's perfectly safe behind the wheel. Do not cast nasturtiums on Hamster's driving skills, or I shall have to challenge you to a duel. Razz

that was not my intention, i assure you mickey.

i just find cars... incredibly boring...

actually, i tend to find autobiographies just the same. who needs real people when there's perfectly good made up ones? (thinks maybe she should stop looking for dirk's then)

Cars aren't boring. Mind you, most of the people who drive them seem to be utter <insert word here that would probably get me banned>. I like the physics in cars. How the engines work, and how they're made better and more efficient and all that. You do know that Top Gear isn't so much about cars nowadays, though, right? What, with attempting to drive across the Channel, and trying not to get murdered in Alabama, and trying to send a Reliant Robin into space, etc and so forth. Big Grin

As for autobiographies, they're really only good if the writer/the writer's life is interesting. There's some pretty rubbish ones out there. There's also loads of good ones. David Niven's were awesome, and Tom Baker's is well worth reading. Graham Chapman's is one of my favouritest books ever. I know they're not to everybody's tastes, though. Do you prefer fiction completely, or are there non-fiction books that you read as well?

Louise Brooks biography written by Barry Parrish is an extremely good read. Its one of the few i have read. and its*sister* about Clara Bow too but that is my interest anyway.

As for cars not a fan either, but I can understand what you mean about the physics in a cars layout, my O/h likes them that way, and i can watch any programe be it fact of fiction he can name em ( since i know nowt i may be being led up the wrong alley but I'm still impessed)
My Godson goes on about changing his car as much as his phone that concerns me ... hes a good driver but only 20.

i like physics, i never thought of cars that way though. give me an engine to play with (sans car), i'd probably be quite happy. Smile

i saw a clip of that i think... they had things like 'man love' spray painted on the sides of their cars to get a reaction?

i've read (half of) anthony keidis' (chilis fan here), it's mostly just sex, drugs, drugs, sex and a little more druggy sex... it's yawn so far... i stopped reading it months ago...

well, i like the science of discworld books. they are set up the chapters alternating between a discworld story and scientific explanations. they are interesting (but then, i did like physics at school Smile). i also want to read 'eats, shoots and leaves' (or is it 'eats shoots and leaves' ?) as i have witnessed my grammar go to pot after a decade online. Frown so, yeah... not completely opposed to non-fiction. Smile

Big Grin Hee. Yeah, they had to decorate each other's cars with inflammatory slogans, basically just to see how the locals reacted. Clarkson had "Country & Western Is Rubbish", May had "Hillary For President", and Hammond had "Man Love Rules OK". They were expecting a few glares, and maybe some eye-rolling at those wacky Brits and their daft stunts. Instead they got chased out of the state by madmen with shotguns in trucks. Eek

Oops.

"Eats, Shoots & Leaves" is quite funny. It really makes you think about everything you write, too. And yeah, with you on the Kiedis autobiog. I'm not a fan of the Chilis particularly, but I'd heard it was this great rock'n'roll book. No it's not...

Not quite. May's car refused to budge, as he kept needing jump leads to kick start it. Clarkson drove off without realising, but Hammond stayed to help. That was when the film crew got attacked too.

S'okay. They got a scare, but nobody got hurt. And the end result was a truly brilliant film. Big Grin

Ninth. Series nine, episode three. Sadly it usually has bits snipped on the satellite channels, because of all the adverts. Frown Still funny, though.

And of course it might be viewable in certain other places. *Coughs discreetly*

"An Oxford Tragedy", by JC Masterman. Nicely old whodunnit, set in a fabulously quaint and dated Oxford college.

Actually getting around to nearly finishing 'nights of the circus', and my view is that female characters that are very vivid in the book, they have strength but suffer from appalling lack of confidence and that what the main female character.. Sophie Fevvers has in buckets ( confidence) not quite got to the ending but I think it will be a 'simple ahh i get it' kind of ending.

Oh, book thread, I have missed you!

I used to be a Pratchett fan but I found the thirty odd books - when I started, at least, there were only thirty-odd - a little daunting. I think I made it to book six but book seven is still waiting on my bookshelf. With the other plentiful supplies that I insist on buying but haven't yet found t
