We'll all have a chance to express our opinions when we vote, but I'd say that yet another Labour or Tory government is the last thing any of us need.

Ming has played a blinder, he knows that he doesn't have a hope of becoming PM himself, he knows that by associating Brown with the Lib Dems he may have damaged Brown's credibility thus making the Lib Dems in with a shout to be invited to form an alliance with either the Conservatives or Labour. Expect more tricks and mind games from the party with three names.

You know most people who voted Liberal don't believe in their policies and voted for them knowing they wouldn't win. You can't believe most people are soft on crime and support the euro.

"Most people" didn't vote LibDem. About 22% of those voting did.

I can easily believe 22% of people support the Euro.

As for being soft on crime, Labour's record isn't exactly great either, now is it?

The Lib Dems were in coalition with Labour in Wales from 1999 to 2003. For all the Fib Dems pronouncements on council tax, it was actually the Fib Dems who introduced council tax revaluation in Wales, causing average rises of over 30% in council tax.

It would be unwise for Ming to rule anything in or out at this stage. I'm disappointed that he's leaning towards Brown, I'd expect him to keep his distance from both main parties.

I'm not sure that a coalition between two Scotsmen would go down at all well in England untless the West Lothian question were addressed first. Of course, if Labour ditch Brown there wouldn't be a problem.

I think you'll find any coalition between Labour and the Lib Dems would involve more than just "two Scotsmen".

True enough, but the media tend to focus on leaders. In any case, neither man is absolutely certain to be leading his party into the next election.

I would probably be better for their parties if they don't because neither of them are good leaders, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I'd hate to think a party would be rejected because it had a Scottish leader though.

That's not Political Suicide. Backing Mr "Icing Without a Cake" against a real politician would make Ming look stupid which he isn't.

It's always amused me, the animosity the LibDems bring out in many supporters of the old parties.

I didn't hear Campbell express a preference for Broon, but if he did he was daft. I would have thought any LibDem leader would have learnt their lesson rather than cosy up to Labour after the shafting Ashdown received from Bliar.
Campbell is hopeless, anyhow.

Whilst I no longer support them, I did spend many, many years active in the party and still believe they are less dogmatic, more open minded and free thinking than either of the other two dinosaurs.
