I don't think democarcy works so I think we should put a good old fashioned King (or Queen) in charge of everything.

Get a few common sense decisions made without having to worry about laws and precedence.

What the King says, goes. Period.

I'm actually available if you'd like me to take charge. Bit bored of computing now.

Down with democarcy, long live the King !

In stories they always say 'Off with his head!'.

Nothing wrong with a bit of summary justice.

Good idea - it should be put to a democratic vote.

Hooray!

Then we can bring back important things like peasants, land grabbing, tax raising, killing creatures in interesting ways, doffing of caps and lots and lots of BLING!

If I had to tug my forelock to anyone, I'd marginally prefer tugging it to a King than to Blair and his seedy cronies.

Is it not true, Al, that all land belongs to the Queen anyway???

I'd assassinate him and die happy.

It is true. Property owners merely have a licence to hold that property. If you have a house freehold, and you die but have no heirs, it reverts to the Queen.

No. It reverts to the Crown (i.e. the government), not to the Queen personally.

The "Crown" is the reigning monarch.

The queen/king may now only be a figurehead, but she/he still the reigning monarch. Technically, the land belongs to the king/queen, with all revenues going to him/her.

Not in any real sense. 'The Crown' means, in practice, 'The Government'.

Blair gets it.

Its not worth arguing over. Yes, you are right. In practise, the government administers practically all of the monarch's possessions because the monarch has, over the centuries, given up many of its actual powers and become a constitutional monarchy.

However, in law, and technically, the monarch "owns" the land. And that's all I was saying.

who "owned" the land before humananity and who is going to "own" the land after humanity is gone?

Its all semantics. The land is owned by whoever fights hardest for it.

no one should be allowed to "own" land - but everyone should be made to look after it.

You sound more like a hippy every week, Al (compared to your postings 3 years ago!). Nice one. But say that again, and I'll Sioux Wink

I hear Queenie has a whole load of land, including massive underground bunker, in Australia. If you see any news reports of a sudden and unannounced trip to Oz by HerMaj - then pay attention - some fan may about to be soiled.
