Tonight?

Cor, how much have they been tempted with?

Trying to be objective here but it's hard to see how they could have made an insightful and non-sensationalist programme on this given the proximity to the subject matter.
I'm not sure the world needs to see into the homes of people who have lost their children.

Yeah, but does the world want to see it?

Are these people Irish?

Which people? The posters on this thread? Or the family of Shannon? Either way I don't see it has much to do with anything.

I'll be watching Ch4 catch up ...............personally I find it quite fascinating ......i'm sure there are many that feel the same but wont admit to it. We have to accept that there is an underclass (sadly) - I want to see it.

I saw a few minutes of it. It just showed the press as the hideous vultures that they are.
|
| |
|

|
Another set of people to be caught out by the Press?
Friendly at first but then could not cope with the pressure for "interesting news" from the media.

My 2p's worth - found this program after channel hopping and thought it was disgusting of Channel 4 to even contemplate making a realtime documentary of a missing girl, anything for money eh. On a lighter note which tickled me, loved the english subtitles of an english born person

I wrote two threads on Shannon and they got deleted - isn't the subject banned?

:
surely if a documentary is worth watching it has to cover something quite unique and of interst to the general public. The family agreed to it ..............I daresay there are many who will watch. Thats what documetaries are all about - we dont want same old, same old - and on a lighter note - this child has been found. i'd like to add safe and well .......but who knows? They're taking a long time to release her back into the family - poor little mite.

I found the show a comfort as I had wondered how they treated the children but they came across as very genuine and you rarely get real glimpses inside an "underclass" family.
I hope the mum is reunited with her daughter soon as she genuinely cares for something which many middle class families often fail to show to their offspring.

I didn't watch the programme, but I'm pleased you noted the obvious love in the family. The household must a been a little chaotic, but earlier this week, one poster was quite rude and made unfounded comments about the mother because her children have different fathers. To me, this shows she might be a poor judge when it comes to choosing the men in her life but has absolutely no bearing on her as a mother. I hope that the police are soon able to allow Shannon home where she belongs.

Why? personally I see a world of difference - it may not be PC to say so but that's how I see it. Poor little girl - she was obviously running from something. as for tnhis persistent comparison to the Mc Gann case ......... can't see it myself. Two little girls went missing in very different circumstances - thankfully one has been found alive.

Where was that? All I saw was a couple who were worried about how they were being portrayed in the media ......the kids were just a back drop - the dog seemed to get more attention.

When the dust has settled I hope they will do a follow up documentary so we can see them under more ordinary circumstances.

I'm going out on a limb here but ..............this mother describes Shannon and her brother (born a year apart) as twins .......................why? Because they happen to have the same father!!!!!! Dysfunctional and ignorant IMO ..........those poor kids. No wonder we live in such a cock eyed world if that's considered OK .........it's wrong. Yes the mother has made poor choices and her children will be the ones to suffer.

I see what you're saying, but, no doubt the woman is still confused and very stressed with all the recent events, but last time I checked, being not very bright isn't a crime

I quite agree .....nobody needs O, A levels and a degree to bring up kids but .......self respect and common decency doesn't go amiss. I know it's become clichéd now but .................7 kids by 5 different fathers isn't really something to be applauded is it? Where is the family unity there?
