This just seems to be the day where he has lost all respect.

Question:
Should the Archbishop of Canterbury resign over his comments today?

Choices:
Yes
No

I've put 'no', but only because he has spoken rubbish in the past! Wink

Without doubt. He has shown not only is he out of touch with the country but he is also out of touch with his own church.

Does anyone care what he says? The ramblings of such people should form an amusing coda to the news, something to make us forget temporarily the awful things going on outside our doors.

I've put "No!" He can say what he wants within a religious agenda.
However should anyone in government take note of any religious influence they should resign.

No. They should sack him before he has chance to resign.

Of course he's in favour of religious courts and a separate system of religious laws. By supporting Sharia today, he can push for separate Christian courts that discriminate against gays tomorrow.

Religious nutters oppose secularism equally and, in this matter, obviously he feels "the enemy of my enemy is my friend".

The skirt wearing idiot needs to be sacked before he takes us all back to dark ages. Actually, I can’t think of any other reason why he would say it. After all, the dark ages was when the church was at its most powerful.

I haven't really heard what he said so I don't know, something about sharia law.

I'm seriously concerned that the No.10 response wasn't more robust and William's comments were not slammed down and dismissed...
...along with this looney in a frcck.
If anyone else dressed up in public the way he does, they would be arrested...

Clearly the Archbishop is unaware of the extent of control the Muslim patriarchs have on their women. Neither has he learnt any lessons from looking at how this failed in Canada.

Many Muslim women in the UK live in a ghettoised situation, this does not necessitate walls. Within these control zones the women and girls are policed by family and friends, they cannot access the mainstream legal system, they are obliged to submit to Sharia law.

We have already in this country an apartheid system operating with regard to non white women not having access to our mainstream laws, e.g. believe it or not, it's Ok here in the UK to rip the genitals out of little black girls, not one single prosecution has ever taken place. You can slit the throats of recalcitrant Asian teenagers, force them to marry, and humiliate non white women with polygamy. All of these things theoretically against the law here are carried out with impunity in this so called modern liberal democracy. This is what we have to concentrate on before we could or indeed ever should make gestures towards a primitive form of male hegemony.

Until we can truly offer all these females the freedom of our democracy we should not be acquiescing with sharia law. First things first. Freedom for many Muslim women and girls in the Uk must be achieved before we look at the self interested demands of patriarchs.

Where do you get with the "amusing Coda" bit ??
He's supposed to be an Anglican Archbishop, Resign you ageing mutant, if people want Sharia law, go back to where it's practised, and take Mr X-Arch with you and leave our country alone. I'm sick to death that we have to keep bowing out of OUR culture to appease muslims and "mutli-culturism"

This post should be sent to the prime resident of Lambeth palace.
Thanks mimsy1, even though what you highlight is quite horrifying.

Laws in the UK should include those based on violent homophobic and misogynist ritual myths and superstitions.

Yes most definitely.

It was one of the most divisive comments I have ever heard from a leader of the Christian faith.

It seemes to have been designed to inflame people.

Almost with evil intent imho Eek Devil

He's fairly liberal for an Archbishop. If he resigns we could get worse.
We don't need any more religious superstitions, but there are a lot more authoritarian views out there, propounded by those who believe in miracles.
