Ello, your imperial majesty here.

I urge you lot to watch unreported world tonight at 7:30PM on Channel4 tonight.

I know this is expected from the usual suspects, but it always nice to read the denial postings on here afterwards when the topic is being debated.

Happy viewing....well not really, bearing in mind what might be in store for the victims.

Just caught the last fifteen minutes of this programme. I'm afraid it didn't come as much of a surprise to me, Christians are persecuted in many countries. I've heard visiting speakers at my church tell some horrific stories. I think that one of the people in the programme proved though, by wanting to live in those appalling conditions, that no matter what the circumstances being close to Jesus is always the best place to be. I applaud your perseverance Christians - you're in my prayers.

But Islamic countries are sooo tolerant of other faiths.

This programme must have been a CIA-Zionist-American-Blair-Bush-Shell Oil-Haliburton pack of lies and was faked.

Don't forget that 1000 years ago Christians were well protected...therefore nothing to see here.

To each his own, let the Egtptians live how and govern themselves AS THEY want and not by OUR standards.

Maybe they are trying to protect their morals through religion. Perhaps they have seen the dog like culture that exists in the WEst. Teen pregnancies, single parents, kids as hoolgans, family break up, infedility, divorce rates soaring(and at a drop of a hat) and etc.

*Sigh

The programme showed one community that lived in a slum. Some of they of their own choice. It didn't show the thousands of copts who didn't creating the impression that all copts lived in those conditions. Pathetic.

As for not being able to get permission to build churches. What hoops do muslims have to go through in order to build mosques in the UK? Look at the hoopla over building a so-called mega-mosque in London.

Look at the blacks who live in Britain, they still have double harder to get to the top. Every nation has its faults. That includes us. So before we point fingers with our Muslamaphobia, let's take a closer look at home. Then point fingers once we have perfected all this !!!!

Sorry I must be confused, its all sweetness and light for Egypts copts then?

All those stories of forced conversions, rape and persecution from the authorities must have been made up?

Stop being such an apologist. I see you are quite vociferous in condemning any form of Islamophobia or Israelu oppression yet cannot equate the same feelings when it doesn't concern Muslims.

I can turn that question around on you. Do all or even the majority of copts live in those slum conditions portrayed in the show? I'm sure Boutrous Boutrous-Ghali would be surprised.

Again you take examples of abuse and assume that it's the norm. How exactly can you force someone to convert? I watched the whole 30 minute report and didn't see any allegations of systematic rape of the copts by muslims which was being ignored by the law.

What apologist? There's plenty wrong with Egypt most of which stems from it being a dictatorship. Simple as that.

Bit similar to our cops, who tend to bug Muslims(whether they are good or bad). Perhaps Egypt has adopted similar policies? Nod

Boutros Boutros-Ghali is good case in point. He was never fully appointed foreign minister under Sadat he was only ever "acting" due to his faith.

And you know it was due to his faith how exactly? Surely if his faith was that much of a problem he wouldn't have held any position of power at all acting or not?

I can imagine the hysterical culture that will exist if we ever have a Muslim as a PM here. If it happens, Iowa will be filled up within no time.

Seems funny that of all the Egyptian foreign ministers the only one to have held the post as "acting" foreign minister happened to be the only Christian.

How many Israeli foriegn ministers have been non-Jews? Or don't your standards apply to Israel?

Spot on your absolutely right it’s completely hypocritical.

No one should really comment on this thread unless they saw the programme or watched the video on the channel 4 link in its entirety as many parts of it our quite shocking and after seeing it I cant believe anyone would not totally condemn what happens in it.

Its also out of order comparing living in Britain to how these people have to live and the things they have to endue there is no adequate comparison.

Sorry to bump this thread back up to the top of the forum, but the makers of The TV Show would like to hear your opinions on Unreported World.

If you are interested, please send your thoughts to thetvshow@channel4.com. Maybe record a video clip (or sound clip if you're shy) of your comment on your camera, phone etc and email that in.
Tell them I sent you.

See Tell Krishnan for the latest on the debates for The TV Show, Saturday March 1st. Channel 4’s monthly debate on TV. Currently the bookies’ favourites for debate are Boom and Bust (did property shows contribute to the housing boom?) and Shockdocs (are they educational or exploitative?).

Cheers, The TV Show Web Ed.

P.S. talking of video clips, there’s been some great ones left at The Big4 Video Box, which may a/bemuse you.

Don't seem to be a problem, plenty of them popping up all over Yorkshire.
