I am not in the habit of complaining about news outlets, but the hysterical interview with the woman from genewatch in tonight's 7 o'clock news left a very bitter taste in the mouth. The interviewer's shrill interuptions stopped the interviewee making her points on several occasions, then complained (!) when the interviewee attempted to interupt her. Being polite and probably in a stressful situation, she complied, but was again interupted! I have no axe to grind , I don't know whether we should have a nationwide DNA database or not, but this was not the way to shed any light on this matter. I'm sure John Snow would not have handled this interview in such an unprofessional way. I expect better from channel 4 news.

I was surprised! It is the first time I see her so excited! And I agree, those interruptions were annoying. They should make her interview George Gallaway for her punishment!...

Samira! I'm trying to picture her.
Funnily enough I was unimpressed by the female newsreader on BBC news last night. Unfortunately I don't know her name, possibly Kaplinsky? She was considerably out of her depth and having to look at her notes throughout a threeway interview with two Americans on screen. It was so distracting I can't even remeber what it was all about.

And some might say that she has shown herself to be capable and we should cut her some slack. But as this is the second such incident this week, we should also be watching the rest of Ch4 staff to see if this develops into a pattern.

I bet they received instructions from C4 to be more agressive to attract more viewers!

I heard that interview too, and didn't like it either - but I disagree with your interpretation of the causes. Normally John Snow is the one who keeps interrupting the interviewee, rudely forcing him or her to answer some uninteresting point over and over again. Samira Ahmed is normally much more polite. I bet she had just had some sharp criticism from Channel Four management about being too passive, and letting the interviewee get away with murder. So she was outdoing even John Snow in shrewishness, just to show she could.
