A council used controversial anti-terror laws to spy on a crew of refuse collectors after receiving a tip-off that they were incorrectly emptying a dustbin.

Officials set up an undercover surveillance operation in an attempt to prove the three binmen were being bribed by a newsagent to take away trade waste when he had not paid the extra fee for it to be collected.

How long before it's 42 days for being late with the council tax? Disappointed

Mis-use of the terrorism legislation should be considered a serious offence and those who ordered it should losetheir jobs and face jail terms.

That won't happen, because of course it's exactly how the govt intended - surveillance of all of us.

Link- The Long arm of the American law!

The story of a couple who are under house-Arrest in the UK and will be going to American prison for running a UK Government sanctioned and health & Safety executive certificated and regulated business.

The brutal September the 11th laws in the USA have taken away our liberties in britain.

The long nose of the USA law.

quote:
THE PARENTS of a Scots computer expert who faces extradition to the US for hacking into the Pentagon and other military installations have claimed that he has been threatened with rape in an American prison even before his trial.

The offences (although not a crime in the UK where he lives) could see him serving up to 70 years in a federal penitentiary.

And he has never even been to America!

Let's hope that people can support those who are threatened with abduction though their consumer power.

It is nothing to do with terrorism as previously mentioned, it is trojan horse legislation to impose a climate of fear.

Someone said, along the lines of when you can govern though love or fear, choose fear, it lasts longer. But then we have a duty to damage what we fear.

If and when the 42 day gets passed it will be used on trouble makers, like Union leaders, or protest organisers, like the ones who have delayed the 4th runway at heathrow etc.
Anyone who stands up against something the government want to do.
Only joking, this could never happen in a democracy.

Of course, a democracy where people voted for a Labour Party with a certain Mr Brown leading it. Wink

The most fundamental right any of us have is the "right to trial by a jury of our peers". As American law makes it clear, that jury has to be your fellow countrymen, and e.g. Americans cannot be extradited without going before an American Jury.

But when it comes to the country that invented human rights ... any court is OK so long as it doesn't consist of a British Jury!
