Don't get me wrong I think Saddam was a total nut who needed getting rid of (just not in this way). However many Iraqis suggest that they were safer under him than they are now, I'm inclined to take their words for it. Actually it's not hard to understand why that would be

Depends when your start point is. If the troops had never been there in the first place, I doubt 20% of the population would have been driven from their homes by anything.

In addition to this, and I know the figures were contraversial - all 'official' stats are, it depends what you want to believe - but I'm sure the 650,000 civillians who died as a result of the war, would also have lived. Albeit under the glorious regime of mad Saddam.

I believe the 650,000 figure was quoted by the WHO in 2006.

According to some here - Iraqi's are not like us - they have no right to expect their country to be left alone from countries that want to illegally invade them.

thousands would still be alive Lost, thousands of children wouldn't have witnessed what they did, thousands of parents would still have their children, many children wouldn't be disfigured and orphaned.

Apparently we'll be fighting terrorism for a generation or more, which will of course mean remaining in Afghanistan for years, and probably Iraq, since our war opened the floodgates to terror there too.

Of course, after a generation of fighting an ambiguous war with an invisible enemy, who knows how our leaders and the media that sponsors them will be spinning this conflict to our children. History will no doubt be distorted beyond all recognition. Repeat a lie enought times, it becomes truth, ansd of course if you scare people enough they will do exactly what you tell them to.

As George Bernard Shaw once said democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. We only have to look in the mirror to see who is to blame for our troops actions. Ultimately war is a dirty, horrible business that always targets the most vulnerable of our populations. People can rant on about numbers, but in the end, we have replaced a murderous genocidal dictator with terrorists and religious extremists, and that is just the Americans.

deffo the "more"

Some of the thoughts of the kids in this docu was shocking, though if I try hard very understandable. Kids as young as 10 want to go back to Iraq and "kill the Americans" for what they've been through/seen

Why should we? is it that bad? because we're sending asylum seekers back as Iraq is now deemed as being safe.

Why should we? ok don't then is it that bad? I think it's awful because we're sending asylum seekers back as Iraq is now deemed as being safe. well tell that to many who fear for their lives should they return. I would suggest that Iraq is anything but safe to send anyone to

Probably isn't but I sugest it's the government who needs to look at this and also as many think there are too many foreigners here, then the answer is....

In theory yes, in practice we're all saying there's too many here already, so I guess we will not do this.

Or not get involved in external conflicts if we're not prepared to do the right thing re refugees created by our actions.

No - tell that to Ms. Jacqui Smith, the Home Secretary. SHE is the one who says it is perfectly safe for the Iraqis she intends to deport.

Hasn't the Red Cross published a report this week that says life in Iraq is worse now than under Saddam?
