I hear that if and when the Tories get elected they will overturn the hunting ban, let the minimum wage dwindle away, roll back SureStart by 200 million pounds a year - all of which benefit the poor and our furry population .
However, if and when elected they aim to resist the pressure to regulate the money makers in the city .
Call me a cynic but it appears that they don't want to upset their rich friends in the city, but don't mind upsetting the poor.
Nevertheless, you could argue that they are loyal and caring because looking after your friends is a caring thing to do isn't it.
Nick Clegg was on the telly earlier today and he said something rather sensible.
He said that measures which put money in the hands of low paid would do far more to stimulate the economy and keep us out of recession than measures which put money in the hands of the better off.
The reason was simple: people with small incomes are likely to spend any extra money they have while the rest are more likely to put it in the bank, even now.

There appears to be no right sorry I mean centre right Tories on here tonight? I would have thought someone would come to Dave and his party's defence because after all the Tories HAVE changed - really according to Dave anyway.
Perhaps our Tory friends on here are crying over their 'spilt milk money' and don't quite feel up to posting .
Or may be - how does that saying go "you can't defend the..."
1. Bring back hunting. The present law is ridiculous. It was introduced by class warriors with no idea about, or interest in, animal welfare.
2. How can you let the minimum wage 'dwindle away'? You either have a minimum wage or you don't.
3. I've no idea about Sure Start. Is that another of those disaster areas, where they just threw money at a problem in the hope that some of it might stick and do some good?

It has no place in the modern world.

Ever heard of inflation?

OM. You know as well as I do that the hunting bill was introduced by people with little or no interest in animal welfare. And they botched it, because they were blinded by hatred for the participants, rather than a genuine regard for the animals. Hunts are, in fact, operating quite happily under the ban. It would be more honest to re-introduce hunting to control the fox population as recommended by the middle-way politicians who at least took the trouble to look beyond class warfare.
I don't think there is a shred of evidence to suggest the Conservatives will do away with the minimum wage. They should have backed it in the first place, but did what a lot of opposition parties do. Oppose. Suggesting they will let it 'dwindle' is no more than desperate spinning.
Back to work initiatives such as Sure Start, aimed at getting aboriginals off benefit and into work, have cost the British taxpayer £62bn since Gordon Brown became Chancellor, and then Prime Minister. All the while, recently-arrived immigrants with a smattering of English and the willingness to invest a fair day's work for a fair day's pay have helped themselves to well-paid low-skilled jobs at a cost to the taxpayer of nil. Most of that taxpayers' money spent trying to get aboriginals off benefit and into work has been wasted. No less an MP than Frank Field has said so. For the information of Labour supporters on this board, Mr Field is a Labour MP.
As for the minimum wage, anyone who settles for the minimum wage is a halfwit. Certainly you would not find an immigrant doing so. It simply is not a liveable wage. There is no point to it.
But I would not expect economically illiterate Labour supporters to understand that.
As to the hunting ban, hunting has never gone away. The Act was so poorly framed that it was easily circumvented, yet another example of Labour government incompetence. But one will never persuade dimwit Labour supporters of that.
For the time spent on the useless Hunting With Dogs Act, the Labour party could have reformed the Lords with a completely elected second chamber, or even fulfilled its 1997 General Election Manifesto promise to replace FPTP with a fairer PR voting system. But one will never persuade dimwit Labour supporters of that, either.

Never one to disappoint b .
You are right about the class warriors not caring about animal welfare, unlike the men/women on horse back who see nothing wrong in letting their dogs tear a live fox apart – now that IS caring about animal welfare.
Re Cameron ridding us of that terrible minimum wage - the article I read was from the socialist Mirror (not the right wing Mail) so it must be untrue!
Your lack of knowledge about SureStart suggests you do not live in one of those deprived areas where SureStart runs –Lucky You!
But I would not expect economically illiterate Labour supporters to understand that.
Whereas YOUR Tory friend's in the city are VERY economically aware
You couldn't make it up!
Remind me...how much did the economic genius Brown put aside for the Under-26 year-olds to go free to the theatre a couple of weeks ago? And how much for all those computers and free broadband given to the "poor " ?

Woeful Rabies. Absolutely woeful
And that is the best comment you can muster in response. Situation normal.
But I would not expect economically illiterate Labour supporters to understand that.

You have not even addressed the points I made, just posted a vacuous comment that would disgrace the member of a sixth-form debating society.
'Whereas YOUR Tory friend's in the city are VERY economically aware'
Hi rabid!
Some thoughtful points.
My IQ quotient is no doubt what it is (correct the spelling if you wish)
The effectiveness of the hunting ban is a disappointment, but the animal cruelty involved lies with the hunters I humbly suggest.
Your analysis of issues concerning the second chamber are not so different to my own – hope I don’t embarrass you too much.
Hunting and the House of Lords/toffs/experts/whatever is a bit like angels on a pin old chap.
Although the Yanks are on holiday tomorrow with one of their multi-cultural days the Japanese, Far East, Aussie and eventually the FTSE seem doomed to a further 20% drop tomorrow.
Forgive this to quote you “economically illiterate and dim-witted” Sunday Times reader for suggesting that Tories have got a cheek to criticise the Left for their economic analysis.
Next week the agenda will be about nationalisation saving the bacon for the capitalists.
Very interested in any alliteration from a “thinking Tory” like yourself.

I have an idea we're not going to reach an agreement on these points, Red Shoes.
Never mind. You might like to know that I do live in a deprived area, even though I know nothing about Sure Start. But I do know all about minimum wage because I was obliged to pay it to my sole employee. That was so that I had someone to hold the fort whilst I was out hunting.
I am a Tory supporter only from sentiment, these days, redshoes. I would not cross the road to work for any party these days, certainly not Dave's Torylites. The Blessed Margaret won the only elections worth winning, back in the 1980s, when she crushed the trades unions. Since then I have done very well regardless of which shower was in office, and expect to do very well in the future, regardless of which shower is in office.
I do not think the FTSE will drop further tomorrow. I may be mistaken, but I feel there may be modest gains.

Thanks for the polite and somewhat witty reply b
I guess I only started this thread to show that the Tories have not changed, although that is what they/Cameron want you to think.
I think the insults I have garnered on here have come from a Tory without a sense of humour (I am not talking about you b) - I will not name him/her. I would expect more from a person who loves Thatcher though
