Hey - this dreary show was almost saved by the entertaining Mr. Fielding, whose face seems to be able to morph into amazing shapes and poses...I love his gaze up to heaven pose (best witnessed before the mod wolves dance from the Boosh?). I know these guys are all "mates", but what is Chris Morris doing wasting himself here..I used to think Linehan was the best too.
This is comedy so "gentle" it's comotose and boring.

yer I agree, posted in the it crowd forums last week about it Razz

but totally the it crowd is rubbish and not funny but noel seemed to make it more interesting, despite the writers picking on another stereotype, taking it to levels of insulting with the audience laughing at "goths are people too" etc.
I think Noel put some depth into his character, making it more funny and really showing up the others. Was almost as if Noel created/formed the character as it was totally different to the others (blank/boring) in the show.

Please tell me why Noel Fielding was hilarious. I don't get it. He did a slightly odd voice and wore make up. His lines weren't funny. His acting wasn't funny. His portrayal of a Goth was predicatable and dull. At one point he even wore Gene Simmons (Kiss) make up - Nothin to do with Goths. As usual Mr. Fielding seemed to be enjoying his performance more than anyone else. A more conceited performer you simply couldn't find.
I still want to like The IT Crowd. I still don't.

And also at ringside during Howard's fight in 'Killeroo' Wink Big Grin

I don't think this show is as bad as some say, although without Chris Morris' presence it does flounder a bit(the look on his face after the Cradle of Filth incident was priceless, really made me LOL). Noel's episode is the best so far, I'd say.

Who says it has to relate to the Goth thing? It was a random visual joke.

If you don't 'get' Noel's comedy, then it's pointless asking for it to be explained....it just can't be. You either find it funny or you go 'huh?' I suppose. I think he's wonderful.

The episode is on again at 11pm tonight, C4. Wink

Well, speaking as a Goth girl , I wasnt offended by Richmond at all. It thought it was hysterical. The only funny thing in the show. Better then that shambling scruffy chap who insulted Prince at the Brits the other night.

I agree, as a sort of goth person, was a bit annoyed at the audience laughing at "goths are people too" and also the way they seemed to make out that it's ok to shut away richmond, or the scared of sunlight thing Frown.

I think they only shut him away again in hope of bringing him back for a second series which I can't see them getting funding/backing for.

The end was a bit rushed aswell, not really good writing tbh Frown

The goth bits were hilarious. Best bits of comedy i've seen recently.

Which bits?

I liked "Do I amaze you?" *gazes up*
and the cradle of filth part hehe Smile could imagine some of my friends doing that. The LED thing was pretty funny aswell, possibly because of noel fielding tho.

It's just the opinionated rubbish that I didn't like Frown

i watched the IT Crowd for the first time on friday simply because he was in it. i wasn't impressed by the show itself but he was amazing. all the other actors seemed so wooden. i won't be watching it again.

well, he'd been in that darkened room for 4 years, only coming out at night...

i think he would be a bit photosensitive by then...

maybe, but he was ok to go up into the brightly lit offices with windows to talk to the boss?

Yeah, but by the time he'd come back down to the basement he was all depressed again! It's relative to mood I think. Wink

That's a shame, cos Richmond will return.
