Who is you favourite current comedian?

And who is your favourite from the past?

For me current is between Jack Dee and Jimmy Carr, with Lee Evans close behind.

Past is probably Tommy Cooper

Peter Kay is hilarious and to me you can't top him

if you want repetition and dulness and monotone generic ideas then watch jimmy carr, hes soo boring.

If you want a good, well planned joke then billy conolly is the man

BUT
overall... Ross Noble is really hilarious and hes so spontaneous its great.

50s : Tony Hancock (Sitcoms finest comedian)
60s : Peter Cook (Such Talent)
70s : Tommy Cooper (Born to make people laugh)
80s : Bill Hicks (Greatest Stand up ever)
90s : Bill Hicks (Still the Greatest)

00s : Cannot compare anyone to any of the above, it would be unfair. Nearly every stand up has paid Tribute to Hicks especially Izzard. He is the only one to come close to him and was still far away.

Beware though: If you dont like offensive language or are easily offended then never listen to Bill Hicks. His material is very adult and non smokers should stay clear.

I saw the Bill Hicks: Slight Return show at the Edinburgh Festival this year - hilarious and ever so slightly controversial - a great tribute!

Well the name sais it all really. I'm a HUGE Ross Noble fan even tho i've only met him once we had a nice long chat about my future career as a stand-up comic. The weird and sureal rambelings of a half confused Geordie bloke jumping around a stage is 100% wot I look 4 in comedy. Another who fit's these lines is Billy Conoly but even tho i grew up loving a shouting swearing Scot I would have 2 say that Noble is the number 1 comic ever.

My fave from the past has got 2 b between Tommy Cooper and Tony Hancock. Both are very different styles but the confusedness of Cooper and the situations of Hancock are just 2 tough 2 decide between. Even tho Cooper's comedy had been lost in the tale of time but Hancock's comedy lives on in people like Coogan who is also a fantastic comedien but the best ever has got 2 b Noble!

It was Peter Kay but he has been displaced by Bil Bailey. Another good one is a local lad to me I think his name is Steve Womack from Doncaster. Groucho Marx is my all time favourite, his timing and quickness was just impeccable.

How could I forget this great. I have never ever seen anyone so quick witted in my life especially during his gameshow days. Some of the on the spot jokes had me in awe of how good a comedian he was. Agree with everything you say about him.

Is Ross Noble that fella who used to try and get onto as many TV programmes a week as he could? Confused

My favourite is Peter Kay, but I also like people like Jasper Carrott too. Smile

I really don't get the whole Peter Kay obsession. I have watched his stand ups and Phoenix Nights and haven't found one that funny at all. He's just a fat northerner you would find in any pub up there trying to crack jokes.

I never really liked Jimmy Carr till i watched and went to his stand ups. Never seen someone tackle hecklers so well. Sheer brilliance! Very old fashioned styled comedian.

Favourite Comedian: Ricky Gervais
Past Favorite Comedian: Steve Coogan

To be honest their both good in my books, but I've been watching alot more of Ricky Gervais the past 2 or so years, but I would love it for Steve Coogan to come back with some more "Alan Partridge" I remember him on Jonathan Ross a couple of weeks back, he hinted that hes not finished with that character and he also done a few Alan Partridge sketches...

The show was called "You bet Your life" which was brought back by Bill Cosby. I luckily caught it on some obscure channel on Sky but unfortunately that channel went off air.

If I do come across it again on a channel will post it here for you. Its so old that I don't think there would be DVDs available of it.

Thats why I say he was so quick witted. During those days everything went out Live and his timing was just out of this world. The gameshow was not that good, it was just Groucho was on form (Comedy wise) every show.
