Hey you. Smile

After enjoying the IT crowd, reading loads of threads on here and remembering I used to love Noel Fielding's stand up, I bought The Mighty Boosh in HMV's sale.

I've never seen it before and I'd like some advice on how best to watch it, please. I usually don't like to watch a sitcom one episode at a time, I prefer several in one go. Big Grin

Is it the sort of sitcom that is suited for that like Men Behaving Badly? Or is it a 'savour one at a time' like Vic Reeves Big Night Out?

Your advice is appreciated.

Start with episode one... and then watch the minutes in sequential order until you have seen the entire episode..

Do no randomly go back and forward in episode 4, or watch it on pause for 3 and a half weeks.

I have just found The Mighty Boosh, and I am in love.

I watched every episode of both series in about a day, because I HAD TO.

Noel Fielding is an amazing man, with amazing style hehe.

i used to find the songs in mighty boosh pointless but i've grown to like them.

there were 2 many characters in the first series i felt they refined the show in the 2nd series.

it's a grower

but funnier than everything that's moldern in comedy right now

Hehe I love the 'Pies' Sketch that they did at the Secret Policeman's Ball, it's in their live show too. I nearly wet myself, especially when Noel answers Julian as to why he doesn't like the pie by saying 'I just told you!!!!' I would love to have been in the room when they first wrote that.

No one I know gets the Boosh, they look at me weirdly when I show it to them and think I'm strange Roll Eyes, they just aren't open minded hehe

I was a bit unsure about the songs at first too, but when you hear them a few times they are really catchy - especially the song in 'Call of the Yeti'. I think the songs make the show more unique Big Grin

Yeah I think Nanageddon is the best episode.

That gag is so funny coz he keeps saying it....
'killed a swan yesterday....did a sh** on it.....right on it...'

'we got Hitler......played Pictionary with him, he couldn't draw to save his life......I did a sh** on him!!!'

I love the boosh, it is actually genius. its an aquired taste though. your either get it or your dont. I honestly dont understand why neither julian or noel are in the 100 best comedians vote - ive just spent ages looking for them and low an behold theyre not there. its an outrage!!

where do i write?

You should only watch the live dvd after you have watched the seris otherwise its just lost on you.

for those of you who enjoy the boosh you will also find great love in Garth Marengi's Darkplace and Black Books. absolute genius.

I completely agree, it definitely is an acquired taste. I completely get it, whereas people I show it to just don't. My mum tolerates it, but I think that has more to do with Noel than actually getting the show. I completely understand that lol but I love the show aswell.

You definitely do have to watch the series before the live show, because there is so much material from the series in there. My friend wants to borrow the live series off me because we are going to see Noel and Russell Brand in March and she wanted to see what he was like. I've told her that she won't get it properly until she watches the series so I'm making the poor girl sit through it hehe. It will be interesting because I know it's really not her type of thing. She's only coming to the live show with me in March because I'm paying for everything as I was so desperate to go lol.

I love Black Books, I've watched that from when it was first shown on tv and I have all 3 series on dvd. It definitly is an outrage that they are not in the top comedians list.

Can you tell I have no one to talk to about this lol...talk about writing an essay.....

They're not actually touring, they're doing a one night gig at the Royal Albert Hall on the 28th of March for the Teenage Cancer Trust. I didn't know either until I randomly came across tickets for the show on a site. At that point I went a bit hysterical because I didn't know anything about it and the tickets had sold out. Then I calmed down and went on an obsessive mission to get tickets lol.

At least we can talk to each other about it now.....we can be Boosh Buddies!!! aha that sounds so lame but I don't care lol

It is definitely insanely genius, I think I could just sit and listen to Noel for hours and hours and I wouldn't get bored lol. He'd probably get annoyed at me staring at him though!

Yeah technomouse!! Had to be put in the ambience hutch.

It really is the weirdest zoo......

I don't think I have a favourite part of series 1, there are too many! I like a lot from the Tundra episode, and the Bollo episode. I think series 2 is my favourite.

Yeah hopefully they will put it on dvd, it's such a shame you wont be able to make it. If you ask me it wasn't advertised that well, but the tickets have all sold out so people must have known about it somehow.

I don't think it's sad that we could listen to Noel for hours, we just find him interesting is all Big Grin

The live dvd is my favourite at the moment too, because you get to see 'Noel & Julian' as well as 'Vince & Howard'. I wish I had known about the show when they were touring, because I would have loved to have been there. Hopefully next time. Did you see them when they went on tour?

Yeah I prefer Noel's hair in series 2 aswell, the black definitely suits him.

The word 'jealous' doesn't even nearly cover how I feel about you right now Jones!!! Aww, I'm glad it was good though. Is that The Hammmersmith Apollo or whatever its called in London? I was there a few months back, but not to see Noel......

Do you think they will do another Mighty Boosh tour after the next couple of tv series?

i actually got into the boosh after the tours, it was introduced to me by someone i used to work with.

its so hard to find good random comedies that arnt the generic crap that keeps getting chured out an i hate jumping on the bandwagon so i always struggle finding good stuff. i dont watch bbc3 like ever, an all that was ever on was 2 pints of lager.. an its turd that show with 'actors' who are only doing it cos the people at the dole office is making them work. so i never got a chance to see the boosh cos they were always in the way!

Does anyone know when the 3rd series is suppose to start?

They better had tour. or i'll start a petition for that too! lol!

how did everyone else get into it?
