I was hoping that you guys could give me some advice on which stand-up comedy DVD I should buy.
I've got, seen and loved all of the live DVD's from people like Bill Bailey, Dylan Moran and Peter Kay, but wondered which others you'd recommend.
I'd be grateful to hear feedback on any of the DVD titles below - or any other recommendations...
Here's a list of current stand up DVD's: Ross Noble (Unrealtime/Sonic Waffle) Jack Dee (Live Again 2005) Jimmy Carr (Live/Live 2) Ricky Gervais (Animals/Politics) Lee Evans (XL Tour) Bill Bailey (Cosmic Jam)
... or any others you can think of.
I'd love to know your opinions on any of the above comedians; and especially if you own any of their DVD's.
I've got most of Billy Connolly's stuff but I know he is an acquired taste, how about the leg-end that is Richard Pryor? Now his stand up shows in the 70's were genius!
I've got Dave Spikey's 'overnight success tour' dvd. I really rated that and am thinking of buying his newest DVD. I got into him because of Peter Kay. Since he writes with him and also stars in Phoenix nights with him. I thought i'd try his stand up dvd, his humour reminds me a lot of Peter Kays.
I saw Lee Evans XL tour in Manchester also, and have the DVD.
I also have Jack dee live 2005
You won't go wrong with either, C f B

Both the Ross Noble Dvd's are really really funny but also good value because you get two shows in one box. He also does commentries on them which have albsolutely nothing to do with the shows but are also funny so they are kind of like audio shows..... My favourite is the Unrealtime Dvd though.
Jimmy Carr (Live/Live 2) Ricky Gervais (Animals/Politics)
both aren't very good. i've watch all the jimmy carr one, wasn't impressed. haven't seen all of the ricky gervais one, but what i saw wasn't brilliant.
Jimmy Carr is about as funny as being kicked in the nuts. He is one of these people that as a result of his popularity makes me wonder about people big time - being sarcastic all the time and pulling stupid faces on that little podgy poncey face. He is a grade A gimp.

Lee Evans? See above comments on Jimmy Carr - pulling stupid faces does not maketh a funny man. To be fair he's not odious like Jimmy C*** though, just a gimp
For me it's gotta be "Ricky Gervais - Animals/Politics" I'm a huge fan of his and love all his work, I'm just wondering if he has any other plans in the future to do anymore Stand-ups as I would love to get a chance and go see him...
