I have seen it, or at least the edited american version, all six episodes. There were only six, right? I don't think they will run the other seasons, it wasn't very popular here, as far as I can see. The BBCamerica website says 'no further info' when I enter the title. I liked it a lot, though it was not as funny as I expected it to be. I've been spoiled by the perfection of Green Wing, I suppose, nothing else will ever measure up to GW. I did enjoy Black Books, though, and I can see why some women, who aren't quite up to level of connoisseurship needed to appreciate JRT's beauty, would find Dylan Moran sexy. His hair has a life of it's own, like all true sex-symbols - JRT, Hugh Grant, etc. His voice and accent are sweet. My favorite episode is 'Grapes of Wrath,' that one was really laugh-out-loud funny. I wonder how much of this series was taken out of the american version? It took me a few minutes to figure out what Moran's character's first name was, because we pronounce that name as ber-NARD.
'Grapes of Wrath' is my favourite episode out of every series! I've lost count the amount of times i've watched it, and it doesn't lose its humour the more you watch it either. Just one question....who's JRT? *please don't poke fun*

Grapes of Wrath is my favourite too Black Books is the funniest comedy I've ever seen. The Mighty Boosh comes a very close second.
BER-nard!!!! haha that's such an odd way of saying it. I've heard people say it on TV like that before, it just cracks me up. Makes me think of Dr Barnardos.
Dylan is very gorgeous!! Much nicer than Mr Bacon Rhind Tut Tut

You mustn't tease me! JRT is Julian Rhind-Tutt, the most beautiful man ever created, and incidentally the star of Green Wing. JRT

No, Johnny Depp ties with Brad Pitt as the most beautiful american man ever, but Julian outshines them both. He's even more gorgeously, boyishly sexy than Hugh Grant is/was, I can't say better than that. Johnny is sexier than Dylan Moran, that I will agree with. And more memorable, I've already forgotten what DM looks like. Black Books is worth watching again, certainly, and when/if I get things straightened out here, I will buy series 3 on DVD - because JRT makes a guest appearance as The Travel Writer.
I never really saw Dylan Moran as a sex symbol of any kind, more of a mad uncle intellect drunk. Which is the essence of the show. Madness? Yes. Slightly surrealist at times too.
One of my fave episodes was where Bernard and Manny went to housesit a friends place. They accidentally drank his most expensive wine and then set about creating a Frankenstein's Monster creation to replace. Made from dregs and bits of tree!
Um, i just realised that that's the Grapes of Wrath episode. Doh! So i agree with you all!
"Bernard look! Look, Bernard. Bernard. Bernard, Bernard, look. Look. Look, Bernard. Bernard, Bernard, look. Bernard. Look Bernard, I'm a robot prostitute from the future!"

I guess I'll watch Dylan Moran Live tonight, I've got that recorded somewhere. I imagine it will be very heavily edited, but the preview seemed funny. His hair looks even madder. When BB was previewed on the Comedy Channel, they showed a scene that centered around a shrinking apartment, but that episode was never aired. They showed the first 3 eps. of season 1, and when it seemed not to be popular, it was pulled. I hope the BBCamerica audience liked it better.
I think that shrinking apartment episode is from the second series. I can't believe they didn't show the rest of it! Thats mad. Surely they could have at least put it on but changed the time or something if they wanted to put something more popular on in the original timeslot, I mean I'm sure there must be some slots filled with rubbish programmes where they could have showed the Books instead? Oh well, they are clearly insane.

I just watched Dylan Moran live, or what was shown on BBCamerica. It was more like highlights of the 'Monster' show, 30 or 35 minutes in between commercials. It was very funny, especially the bits about 4-way friendships and trying to appreciate rap music. And Irish hair. I laughed out loud quite a lot, so this will be something else I can look forward to seeing in the complete version, someday in the distant future when I get an apartment and some decent electronics.
It's just their basic hypocrisy, pretending to have such high morals that they can't bear to hear a 'bad' word or adult reference on their television, while at the same time doing such evil sh!t in their everyday lives that would have shocked the whole third reich. I hate them. There were certain scenes in Green Wing that were made to look ridiculous because of clumsy editing, and that is unforgivable. It's bad enough that they want to dominate the world, but their interference with my tv-watching pleasure is simply inexcusable.
Black books has to be one of the most stylish comedys ive seen in ages bar green wing or extras. Sometimes I feel I should swallow the little book of calm! Btw, is there gonna be a third seris???....My loins sweat with anticipation!
