Question:
I know I've missed loads of great and indeed very original comedies out of the list, but these were the five that came to my head.

Choices:
PEEP SHOW (Jeremy & Mark's perspective)
THE MIGHTY BOOSH (the zooniverse!)
BLACKADDER (different periods of history)
NIGHTY NIGHT (original in its gloriously sick bad taste)
THE OFFICE (original in the uniquest of the documentary format)

I'm loving The Boosh at the moment, but I'd say the most original comedy for me has to be Vic Reeves Big Night Out, back in the early 90s. I loved it, still do and wish I had all the episodes.

No league of gentleman? Disturbing & funny and a little close to the truth if you've ever got lost and ended up asking for directions in a little village.

Boosh all the way Big Grin Topshop !

There's the elephant. He's happy with his balloon. Oh no! It's gone! Where is it? It's not behind the rhino. Look in the alligator's mouth. It's not there either. Ohhhh... the monkey's got it in the tree! He brings it back. They all drink lemonade. The end.

Man About the House - as far as I'm aware it's the only sitcom that dealt with menage a trois.

What about Three Up, Two Down? The only sitcom that deals with a ménage a trois that ends in...moider. Or was that not what it was about? I can't remember.

Thinking about it, there's also The Goodies.

I'd say the mighty boosh.

I know it's not uncluded, I think that League of Gentlemen is the best comedy. There's so much thought put into each character, i love it!
And has anyone noticed that Marjorie Dawes from Little Britain is a total rip off of Pauline from LoG??!!

I'm glad you're here. I'm glad Jim's here, too, hurling insults at me. I hardly recognise anyone else. It's like the band's broken up.

Where's...what's her name and that bloke? And that other woman? And her with the things?

Renaming myself after literature's most useless navel-gazer seemed preferable to being saddled with one of those nasty big grey stars.

I love Pauline!
All the characters in LofG have more depth and are really funny and dark. You can tell the writers have put a lot of love into each one.
When Tubbs is breastfeeding that pig! The 'bitty' sketch goes nowhere near as funny as that.

I don't mind Little Britain. I think Vicky Pollard and Dafydd are funny. But Bristol and Welsh Valleys accents are quite funny anyway, so it's not that hard.

Since GW isn't a choice I picked BlackAdder - that show makes me laugh just thinking about it, especially BlackAdder III. And 'historical' comedy for tv is a very original idea.
I haven't seen Mighty Boosh, they don't show it here.
We get Nighty Night on the Women's Network, but it's so heavily edited I can't watch it, it doesn't make sense.

The office is 'most original' because nothing like it had been done before... Mighty Boosh sometimes reminds me of the more obscure comedy from the 1970's. Monty Python sometimes used that kind of comedy, so although I can agree it’s ‘offbeat’, I wouldn’t say it was most original…

Apart from the infinitely superior Royle Family, which preceded it by three years.

I'd love the band to re-form. But we need some decent songs to record. Don't want to do a 'Wings'. But we're all still here, aimlessly mooching behind the bus-stop.
