I doubt I will still be treasuring Green Wing in 30 years like I do Fawlty Towers. But then again I dont have a slightly worrying obcession with one of the actors

Stand up tends to get old quickly. You see it once & then there's never anything new.
Sitcoms tend to last longer than films and have different stories in each ep so the good ones are always worth seeing again. Plus you watch them a bit at a time.
In the classic films you notice something new each time you watch it - no matter how many times you've seen it, e.g. Life of Brian. But you have to devote a chunk of life to it & it's generally only one story.

I didn't even think of that one! The only good sketch show I know of is Monty Python, all the rest are repetitive b*llocks. I chose sitcoms mainly because of Red Dwarf, I can watch it over and over again and never get bored.

I'm going for sitcom because of Fawlty Towers, Red Dwarf and Blackadder. But I don't know if I'd choose a sitcom if Eddie Izzard was on the other side.

Just you wait..in the year 2036, people will be paying tribute to all 7 seasons of GW as one of the most brilliant shows ever to hit the airwaves, and marvelling at the incredible youthfulness and still-handsomeness of it's amber-haired star.
