I'm beginning to think that Channel 4 may well be joining the ranks of the other terrestrial channels... it's becoming to safe.

It seems to be sticking more and more to reality shows and documentaries, and becoming seduced by lowest denominator shows like The Friday Night Project and Whatever.

What happened to the days when Friday night was Four night for definite?

Shows like Peep Show, Garth Marenghi and Green Wing face unsure futures, where no amount of critical acclaim will secure an automatic return.

They're also buying less and less top US dramas than they were, with new stuff like Entourage and Battlestar Galactica sipping through the nets, and with Slepper Cell (and before it Nip/ Tuck) suffering due to atrocious schedules.

Enter Five.

They've taken a good long while to get it together in the original television stakes, but now that they're getting into it, they're turning out contentious and fiendishly clever new shoes like the high concept Suburban Shootout, the controversial Respectable and the frankly hilarious Swinging.

They're also quick to get in hot new US imports like the CSI and Law and Order series, as well as shows like House.

Is Five getting ready to take the reigns of daring new TV?

Question:
Has C4 surrendered it's spirit of innovation to Five and it's gun toting housewives...?

Choices:
No; things are the same
No; C4's just going through a slump
Yes; Five is taking the lead
Yes; though it's temporary at best
Other (please specify)

I totally agree. I have just purchased a new tv and when I press 5 I get Channel 4.

I also get ITV when I press 1, BBC2 when I press 3 and BBC1 when I press 2 and Five when I press 4. The instructions are in Chinese or Japanese so I am writing to all the tv stations asking them to change their names.

Five is the poor man's satellite tv.

Let's not knock the poor man.

Instead let's rip the balubaloo out of them:

Dude you are watching the crap that people who paid to watch the crap, saw 1 year before you did.

It gets no better. The only thing that was worth watching was Kirsty Young and she's now hosting "Desert Island Discs" on high-definition, almost touch the picture as if it were real, Radio 4.
