it's a sad day my GW-loving friends. our good friend poppy emailed c4, who now tell us that the dvd won't be out until...march 2006! can you believe it?

tomorrow is the one year anniversary of the first episode, and still we must wait another SIX MONTHS for the DVD. this is beyond a joke. crossbows at the ready. grrrrrr.

No way, this cannot be true. What is the sense in waiting until after the second series begins to bring out Series 1? Oh... perhaps Series 2 isn't going to be out until suummer 2006 or something...

I had sent them an email which I thought had got lost, they've replied tonight saying it'll be out "later this year"....maybe thay've logged onto this forum and are buckling under the pressure of the most ardent GW fans!!!!

i really hope it is 'later this year', but to be honest there isn't much of the year left now! i cannot really see them holding back the release date unitl march 2006, even if it is to coincide with the possible release of series 2 (pure speculation about that, of course). they'll be missing out on the lucrative christmas sales, and p*ssing off a lot of ardent gw fans even further.
come on, c4!!! we're all willing to pay!

Standard industry marketing procedure, I'm afraid. If they release it now, they may sell a comparatively small number of DVDs to people like us for Christmas but most copies will sit on the shelves. What they will do is use the publicity surrounding the start of Series 2 to cross-promote the DVD, so we'll have to wait till then. I can't condone the sale or purchase of pirate DVDs, so maybe I should release for sale my own VHS of me and my mates re-enacting key scenes from the show after a night at the pub . . .

This is absolutely right. A Christmas release was intended by the production team, but there are apparently 'people who know better'.

Delighted to see some of the familiar names are still posting. Should have more internet time myself now (final ep issued on Thursday; long, long overdue - about a third of it has been shot already...).

We all check in here from time to time, just in case something miraculous has happened. And, however good certain 'other' comedy series might be, they can't seem to produce the same fire in the belly. You understand.
