This masterpiece hits me everytime. Everything about it is just perfect. The way that whether you like it or not you are taken into the story and you are dragged along with the characters and take this journey with them so that by the time the film's finished you are weeping. I disagree with the statement that the ship steals the show. The acting from Leonardo Dicaprio & Kate Winslet is what makes this film so good for me. Their story is destined for tragedy and at the end when Kate Winslet is clinging onto his hand and realises he's dying and the music begins to play in-that is really what cinema is all about. That scene is without a doubt for me the saddest thing I have ever seen. It gets me every time crying buckets. Other moments which captivate the viewers and get their hankies out are when 2 children are being read a bedtime story, or two old people holding on together in bed as the ship is sinking, a woman asking the captain where she should take her baby to save their lives. And the moment where Rose jumps back onto the ship. This film is an epic, a true treasure.
i get really emotional whenever i hear the song aswell. once i sang My Heart Will Go On in a kareoke bar n got an amazin response coz, accordin to sum people in the bar, i sang it with real emotion. i wasnt tryin 2, it probly jus sounded that way coz i was tryin not 2 cry whilst singin it!
It's definatley a great movie, but for some reason it has a LOT of critism from people who seemingly like to jump on the 'let's trash a hugely popular and successful movie because we can' bandwagon. (I've also seen the exact same thing with King Kong, people trash it to be different, retarded if you ask me). I've heard a lot of people saying 'oh Titanic is rubbish', and it's not true. It's a slushy love story but I like it. It has a magnificent ending with the sinking and all and the love story at the start just feels right. Definately a movie that sticks with you.
I much preferred the Family Guy version in which after the ship has sunk Jack says to Rose in response to the usual 'together forever' cack "Yeah, listen... About that... There's a girl in New York and... It's getting kind of serious, but thanks for letting me draw you naked! I still can't believe you let me do that!" and then swims off.
Personally I think the film would be far more accurately entitled if they had added 'Shi' to the beginning of the title.
I love it! Even if it had won no oscars and taken no money at the box office, it would still be my favourite film by far. Everybody likes different things. I, for example think The Matrix is the worst film ever but I know many people who love it. Mind you, I think it is "cooler" to admit to liking the matrix over Titanic (I know rather a few males who secretly like Titanic and even one who shed a tear)
Originally posted by Wobbletastic: Even when they did get to the Iceberg (the most important part of the film) they made a continuity error and steered the wrong way. But I suppose most women don’t know their left from their right anyway, so the mistake may well have been overlooked upon the release of the film.
I think you'll find it wasn't a continuity error! Titanic was designed with the old method of steering which meant back then the wheel was backwards. A command of 'Hard-a-Starboard' meant the Officer wanted to go to the Port (left). Ships used to be steered with a tiller and pulling the tiller to the left made the boat go to the right. These commands carried over to all ships and it wasn't until around WWI that they finally changed over to commands used today. James Cameron is on the record as being aware of the confusion that turning the wheel in the 'wrong' direction might create, but decided to include it to be as accurate as possible.... Just as well the director wasn't a woman eh? God knows what kind of confusion we would have witnessed... cheeky git!
i liked titanic however i can't watch it more than once a year because i find it so emotionally darining. every time i start watching it i know i am going to get sucked into the emotion and it is a very moving and upsetting film... but definitely a masterpiece!
And In The End The Love You Take Is Equal To The Love You Make
- Remember that, the Beatles were all about love, it's all you need. Peace and love everyone!

Yes, I know what you mean.. I love the film but find parts of it pretty horific to watch...
omg i realised the other day that the reason jack sinks at the end while all the other dead bodies are floating is because he's not wearin a life-jacket! i so didnt know that ...titanics a great film though..i always cry on the bit at the end where jack and rose walk down the stairs by the clock on the boat
