Saw the trailer for this one and thought it looked intersting.....but unfortunatly is ultimatly dissapointing.... Val Kilmer plays Frank who is discovered shot and unconcious in the New Mexico desert - when he comes round he has no idea who is but is convinced that he knows something that may affect the safety of the President.We only discover he is Frank when he is claimed by his girlfriend Chloe(Neve Campbell).Unfortunatly she only appears after 5 days which makes local Sherrif Jack Kolb(Sam Sheppeard) suspicious. Frank's waking hours are plagued by fragmented flashbacks in which he seems to be given a mission by a mysterious woman(Faye Dunnaway) but he isn't sure if this to protect or threaten the President.....and as Frank is in a back of beyond town called Black Point miles from the Presidents trip how can he have anything to do with it....... He is aslo finding himself attracted to a local nurse(Amy Smart) and various people who seem to know him but he has as yet no idea of their relationship but slowly realisation dawns on him on what a major role he will come to play.
Some of it is quite intersting but the flashbacks are overdone in that MTV/jumpcut way that becomes increasingly annoying and although the middle section is quite engrossing the ending is a real cop out and the more you think about it the less sense the plot makes.....its one of those "who is really working for who" plots but is so full of holes that ultimatly it falls flat - it desperatly wants to be The Manchurian Candidate or The Parallex View but in todays climate has to choice but to have a weak unconvincing ending - Kilmer is ok in the role bit neither Campbell or Dunnaway are given much to do - only Sheppherd brings him customary gravitas to bear...
