Moonstone, that's ok. I don't think it's required that anyone or everyone agrees with me or vice versa.
I don't think the film was ever trying to be risqué ... it would have been a pretty piointless film if the intention was for it to be shocking. I think it was honest and through that honesty beautiful. Sorry if I sound like a pretentious plank but this is one of the most hauntingly awesome films I have seen in a long time. It isn't very often that I think about ...and feel affected by a film days after I watch it. But I did with Brokeback. The guys who wrote the screen play did a wonderful job of expanding on Proulxs novella, the direction and cinematography was beautiful and the acting, by all memvers of the cast, was outstanding. imho.
