Just as it seemed like there was going to be a big finale the credits rolled...did anyone else find the first half 100 times more watchable than the second?

I agree, the first have was fantastic, and then it went down hill, but I still enjoyed it. 7.5/10 (first half 9/10 second 6/10)
I spent most of the time watching it nearly jumping right out of my seat! It wasn't the best film I've ever seen in my life but quite watchable. 8/10 for me.
The day time scenes were really good, there was a proper sense of lonliness and I loved the deer running down the deserted streets of new york, i would give the day time scenes 8/10. However the night time scenes were a bit of a let down, I think the cgi of the vampires could have been better I would give the night time scenes a 6/10.
Like a fat a guy at an all you can eat buffet life got in my way.
Can Will Smith do anything else? He has absolutely no breadth to his abilities/ characterisation! I seem to be the first to say the special effects were pathetic using speed, lighting and odd camera angles with the point of stimulating the audience and trying to gloss over the tenuous science and massive holes in the plot. All hype, gloss and no cigar!
Omega man was superiour in every respect apart from the special effects. Mind you at least in that the affected seemed more human, it would have been more terrifying if the affected were shown as us 1 step removed.
The zombies were the main attraction and Will Smith's friendship with his doggie in which the dog turned into a zombie itself. There was only about 3 people in that movie, and all the rest was pretty graphics CGI
I thought this film was terrible. It was a crude mish mash of 28 days later and Castaway. The plot was unoriginal, uninspiring and pretty dull. The CGI special effects were over boiled and awful. Will Smith and other actors seem to use one scene in a film these days to pretend the role demanded they spend six months getting buff - it's getting tiring - they seem to think that is what method acting is. It is a tragic performance by Smith who just seems to stroll around in films seemingly enchanted by his own 'Buffness'. He has the emotional range of a Fair City extra (only Irish people will get this reference)
And then, it just ended. Best avoided. I never really minded Will Smith that much before, but he is starting to annoy me... Don't ever watch Hitch..
Disappointing and frustrating. Can't blame the actors for this one, the entire script is disjointed and never flows at all, the end is tacked-on, nothing is satisfactorally tied-up. Either they were trying to be too clever and missed by a long shot, or they simply made a bad movie on a poor script.
