What fun!

Well paced with an involving story and good humour. Way better than expected...the 80-odd minutes passed in a flash.

Thought it was quite good, though not as good as Shrek or Toy Story. I'd put it on a par with Monsters Inc or Madagascar.

My favourite character was the mad squirrel.

Disappointing. Pretty unfunny apart from Steve Carell's squirell and even that is pushing it. I got bored of the characters after about 20 mins. Anyone over 10 should steer clear.

Just so you all don't think I'm an "Over the Hedge" fanboy:

As much as I enjoyed it, of course it wasn't on par with Toy Story or Shrek...the charcterisation was too weak. What it did have in it's favour was pacing - unlike some other recent animations, OTH just kept going. There was no padding out...no looking at my watch and hoping something would happen, and I would say there were half a dozen laugh out loud moments [mostly visual] and that's more than most films can summon from me.

Having said that, the story was poor and I doubt I would get much from it second time round, but as a one-off cinema experience I thoroughly enjoyed it.
