I know why C4 edit US shows. They`re obviously trying to make them suitable for a younger audience than the makers intended. US TV censorship is very rigid. Nothing that is unsuitable for a shows target audience gets put into those shows. If C4 has a need to edit, then it proves that C4 is aiming for the wrong target age group.

C4 have a habit of buying adult rated shows, and then trying to make them suitable for an underage audience.

Angel, for example, was always rated 15 or 18 on it`s videos and DVDs, yet C4 bought it specifically to show to a much younger audience. Plenty of us warned C4 via the message board (there were no forums in those days) of it`s unsuitability for younger children. But they got rather huffy, even mentioning on TV about a "vocal minority" trying to spoil things for Angel`s younger fans. They got as far as ep 3 before they hit trouble....... Hacking out 8 mins from a 42 min episode so as to make it suitable for it`s target audience. And they still ended up getting fined because they showed too much unsuitable material in the timeslot. Thus vindicating all the warnings that the vocal minority sent to them. They then rushed through the rest of the season, showing two eps a week, telling viewers that it would be reshown in a more suitable timeslot. They kept their word, at first., initially showing the series at around 11pm. But gradually the episodes were shown later and later until eventually they were being shown at about 3 am.

And as for the shambles created by their obtaining Live WWE (was WWF) programming. Well.......!!
