I agree "come dine with me please", the reason being it brings new faces to the TV. There is no celebrity pushing the book they have written or a record they have brought out.

I'm really enjoying the current 'A Place In Slovakia.' Though the set pieces are a little off-putting. For instance: Peter flicking the towel at the camera which is pretending to be Ann -- so obviously set up, as are many other situations!

Also enjoyed the series with the two gays -- very funny. The picture window Smile

Will you be commissioning another series of Home From Home?

Just please break the cycle of game shows/camp shows. Do something different. Give viewers a new option. People are coming back from work, children are back from school: what about giving them a live, audience-free magazine show that responds to what has happened that day in the news and anticipates what is coming up in the evening on TV and the rest of the media, has a regional element and some live input from viewers, is flexible enough to react to breaking news and puts the spotlight on the themes and topics instead of the presenters. Forget the 'stars' and care more about the format. Maybe really seize on the idea of a broad demographic and make use not just of a young presenter but also a middle-aged one and bring back a 'veteran' - someone like Moira Stewart, Sue Lawley or Michael Aspel - to cover topics for the older viewer.

Alternatively, move the TV Show there and use the slot as the conscience of the channel. Make it live, get viewers to call in, include recorded features and actually make it a conversation. Have people phoning in saying things like, 'I've just seen Goldenballs - it's a disgrace!' and DISCUSS it. Make it feel like the most lively, urgent and immediate show on TV.

As an "Older viewer" I am quite happy with the programmes that are going out. Children coming in from school are not interested in the news o nly which game to play on thier play station or like my grand children get through the mountains of homework they bring home. I watched the veteran presenetrs years ago and enjoy seeing new faces on the tele.

Children will watch something more substantial than The Anthony Cotton Show if it's GOOD! Don't be so defeatist and cynical! What this slot needs is a C4 show, not an ersatz ITV show.

Im guessin i m in the minority here but i reli dnt like "come dine with me", i no its a newish programme but it feels reli dated to me and after watchin a weeks worht of it i get reli bored. Wish Paul could be on for longer, but dnt think that would happen due to his health, they always rotate 3months on 3months off.

In a nutshell, diggetty!! And I support your excellent 'topical' suggestion.

One thing I think the powers that be should consider regarding the R&J/PO'G slot is that many people are on their way home from work at that time of day.

Therefore the audience is still pretty much the same as it is at any other time of day.

Who are your audience ? The people who watch telly all day anyway or someone else ?

I watched R&J on the C4+1 channel or taped it. I didn't often watch it "live".

As the main C4 news is on at 7, I think that 5-7 slot needs looking at as a whole rather than just 5-6.

I really enjoy "Come Dine With Me" and think that the simple format makes it such a success. I would like to see more of that.

I think if Richard and Judy came back with a less cluttered format (more time spent on fewer guests), less "rent-a-mouths" (Nick Ferrari, Vanessa Feltz and the gang) and not quite such a high opinion of themselves, people would tune in.

"Is there anything else I can't help you with ?"

I agree it's a distinctive potential audience - a fair proportion will be moving in and out of the room, cooking or dealing with the kids or trying to settle down, so I think you need a format into which some viewers can dip as and when. It's no good trying to make an imitation POG show because you'll end up with Anthony Cotton, and quizzes are available elsewhere, so I'd go with something very different. You could learn from the book club and wine club elements out of the R&J show and make each day focus on its own distinct theme such as books, wine, food, TV and Film and leisure. That might work.

Channel4 has canvassed our opinion.
Great, wonderful, marvellous.
But Channel4 is a commercial channel.
All will be decided, ultimately, by viewing figures.
Dwindling viewing figures eg Richard and Judy, mean their demise.
So, not really a question of "who/what can replace" their slot.
More, a PR exercise.
I can hardly believe the opinions of a few, chance contributors to this Forum determines TV schedules.
Perhaps, I'm wrong.
