I always go for 20% below market. if you're a cash buyer this should be achievable in current market. good luck!

Be careful buying anywhere in NI at the moment. According to the nationwide quarterly figures, the average property prices have dropped by 10% over the last 3 - or about 25k! IMO, there is no sign of these price drops slowing and if it continues at this rate, the asking prices could be 20% less in another 6 months.

Also, you don't mention what type of property you're planning on buying. Apartments look likely to fall the most, followed by terraces, with semis and detached likely to fall still, but by less.

Do your own research, but I would keep my cash in my pocket for at least another 6 months or so and then assess the market then. Google house price crash northern Ireland and there is a wealth of information available.

Hi Gary,

Where would you buy a property at the moment?

Hi I would buy in USA, market is rock bottom and dollar is weak.

Totally irresponsible advice.

Why would anyone in this country who has no intention of living in America want to buy a property there?

Oh, I see, as an investment. Suppose then you turn the idea around and get Americans buying up homes in this country as an investment. How would that help first time buyers here?

When will we get back to the idea of a house being first and foremost a home? House price inflation mainly benefits greedy people who want more than one. For most people increases in prices are of only academic value for most of their lives.

That's the last 3 months btw, not quarters!

At least in the programme they warned tht graphic scenes were going to be shown. My kid walked in when the channel 4 show repeated the slaughter of the pig at 16:15 without any warning. When will channel 4 learn?

C4 *did* learn. Krishnan gave a warning that the clip was about to be shown again and advised anyone who didn't want to see it to look away.

His exact words were: "If you or your children are likely to be upset by a pig being slaughtered, please look away for about 50 seconds."

Short of coming round your house and unplugging your set, wasn't that enough?!

The threadtitle is a tad confusing. It's like when somebody says "The time is now", or " At this moment in time". Unless C4 are conducting experiments with time, which might go some way to explaining the anomalies which "the forum engineers Big Grin" we are assured, are working on.

Please look away? Didn't dear krishnan also advise turning the sound off. If you've ever seen and heard a pig killed you'll know what I mean.

Well, viewers have to be credited with some intelligence that there's going to be some noise.

It's not as if a pig having its throat slit is going to respond, "Yeah, alright mate. Make it quick, eh?"

Well you have to get it right. There might be kiddies watching/listening. Big Grin

Its like when the soccer results come up. "Look away now if you don't want to know the result" And all of us kiddies look away because it would be so disappointing to know the result in advance of Lineker and Co. presenting it in their own inimitable fashion. Frown

And if the pig being slaughtered taught me one thing, it's that it's much easier to just buy the meat from a supermarket or a butchers. After all, I've just had new carpet put down and all that blood would make one heck of a mess Smile

crash baby crash

tv property porn presenters like all property investors, buy to let landlords, creepy estate agents and coward politicians who prefer to sacrifice the green belts rather than setting a cap on the number of properties a person can hold.. you are all PARASITES...

jobless estate agents, ruined buy-to-leters, embarassed tv execs, scared politicians...
i for one really enjoy this...

only problem is... real rich parasites will make the most of this and expand their wealth...
gumtree is already full of companies offering to buy your mortgage worries away... with 'rent back option' of course..

see you all when it hits rock bottom..
