thankfully C4 have removed the really offensive stuff, what's left is mild compared with what was taken out.

I don't believe that's totally fair? Maybe I haven't read everything, but in one or two places, it seems that he has made some pretty neutral comments which have been pounced upon and twisted around to imply something which was probably never intended.
For sure, I can't see that he has ever been as derogatory about the gay community as some of the posters on here have been about christianity.
At the end of the day, at the risk of using a cliche, God is love.
It seems a favourite atheist ploy to present the downside of christianity (?) is there one?
The gospel message - the good news, if you will - is that if you turn from your evil ways, you get to heaven.
I cant see how that is anything other than a good thing.

Yes, Mr Woolf, there is a downside of christianity. It`s the same downside as being a devout religious follower of any and all religions.

Each one thinks THEY are the one true belief, and that every other religion is wrong, and full of evil, and it`s followers have to be converted at all costs.

God is not love, if he insists that a certain section of of HIS creation is an "abomination". He is supposed to have created mankind, after all. Unless you are admitting that allowing the existance of a "gay" gene was a mistake on his part. And if he can make ONE mistake, then he isn`t perfect, so he cannot demand perfection from anyone else.

Plus, if he`s already made one mistake, then he can just as easily have made more.

Yeah, right, Angel.
Obviously, if gayness was determined by genetics, then for those who believe in evolution, there would pretty soon be no gay people, would there, since gaiety is hardly the best basis for reproduction after its kind?

You obviously don't understand the scriptures, either, or else you would know that God expects perfection from no man.
What's my name?

God has never made a mistake.
He created Adam perfect, along with the whole of the world. T'was Satan brought sin into the world, and has been at it for 6,000 years.

Yeah, 'cept it wasn't determined to be a sin for another couple of thousand years.
Incest is only a problem if the gene pool is fouled up.
That took a couple of millennia.

The genes don't matter because they didn't exist.

Personally, I think the purpose and the idea of Christianity is very appealing... 'God works in mysterious ways' if something goes wrong and 'God be praised!' if it goes right - so complete freedom from worry and basically the idea of fate. But unfortunately, every time I read the bible... wanting to believe... I'm faced with contradictions, right from the very start (how could he create the stars on one day when the light from them takes millions of years to reach earth?). It's not so bad if you start with the New Testament, but even then you find that Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John all describe the resurrection differently... all from second-hand perspectives. I've been in the presence of some truly inspirational Christians with faith that could move mountains, but as soon as I read at the bible, I can't take it seriously, no matter how much I'd like to.

Best Of BB: Glyn, Rex, and always Davina!
