C4 News coverage of the Prince Harry blackout story, received more complaints in February than the rest of the top 5 put together. Other C4 shows receiving complaints include Richard and Judy; Supersize vs Superskinny; Deal or No Deal and Wife Swap.

Update (07-03-08): The Prince Harry story isn’t the first time C4 News’ coverage, came under scrutiny last month, the George Galloway interview was (probably) the most debated topic across all the Channel 4 forums (causing a notable spike in new forum registrations).

Are the reactions to these two stories a coincidence? Give the Channel 4 Viewers’ Editor Your views on C4 News.

Most loved programmes in February included City of Vice; Cutting Edge: My Street; and Dispatches: Heat or Eat: The Pensioners' Dilemma.

I don't really have a complaint but just a comment that the world 's media can be so complicit in keeping a secret for so long, UK I can understand eg blackout in Falklands War, World War II etc.

Don't change C4. Be controversial and hit the topics that unsettle the majority. Cause deep down, the truth is hidden in murky waters.

I would agree with you if that were true.

Channel 4 programming has unfortunately become entrenched in cooking, dieting, house moving and reality TV. Unfortunately aside from Jon Snow's slightly unhinged performance about Harry controversy is the one thing the channel is lacking.

If Channel 4 didn't get complaints it would mean they were spoon feeding us a diet of generic programming - I watch Channel 4 and the News in particular because I expect Jon & Krishnan to ask questions the other channels don't.

Far more often than not, they ask the questions that I am thinking and when they do push and push to get a straight answer - I am grateful that someone is. My reaction would be far more a definition of unhinged than Jon Snow’s... his reaction just seemed like a true (and human) reaction to the incredulity he was feeling.

I like real and want real reactions on something as important as the News – scripted, staged and standardised have no place on live News.

Well, you wont get any news from the main-stream media (C4 included),that is not entirely scripted or staged to a high degree.

Though you could be excused for thinking otherwise.

The channel was a lot more cutting edge in the 1980's.

Are the chin straps on your tin foil hat a little too tight , perchance?

If anyone else can remember it - the incident where John Major as PM confided to a BBC reporter off record(thinking the mikes weren't on) about his colleagues being a word beginning with "b" that the forum wouldn't allow... showed how much a sham the whole thing is.

Major could actually confide in the reporter knowing it wouldn't be passed on... all one cosy club.

I should perhaps have clarified that when I said 'unscripted...live News' I was referring to interview questions that naturally arise in response to answers.

I find it hard to trust mainstream News and rely more on the internet - Channel 4 is the closest I have found to a News programme I can relate to.

More pornographic in the 80's. How about a comeback? Big Grin

How does C4 News compare to the competition?

(I thought it better to update a decent discussion, than start another.)

Biased in the extreme.

Has anyone told Jon Snow he doesn't work for Al Jazeera?

Keep it up C4, you are about the only nun biased news channel right now. The rest are run by capitalists and their cronies who support the governments in power. Hardly free media, is it?

I must admit I do not watch the news on any channel but had C4 news on when they broke the news about Prince Harry and I for one cannot understand why people feel the need to complain about it Confused

The programme generally puts forward opinion as facts, but that is the case with all news programmes.

And looking past bias I'd quite happily take that from a reporter/journalist anchor than some brain-dead dolly bird or squared jawed fun runner.
