This week the Viewers’ Editor takes a look at how C4 trails up-coming programmes, as a number of people write in about adverts for I Am The Elephant Man: A Bodyshock Special, and Dispatches’ Immigration: The Inconvenient Truth. Let her know what you think.
Both programmes were well-debated in the forums last week. See Forum buzz, for a round up of the other C4 programmes that got folks talking in the forums.
I absoultely love Channel 4 trailers! It's the only channel I know that takes time and effort to promote it's programmes. The first series of Desperate Housewives, Lost, Dirty Sexy Money and Ugly Betty. Big Brother, Derren Brown, Embarrassing Bodies, The F Word etc. The list is endless. When I'm watching a show on a different channel and it's the break I always flcik over to Channel 4 to see if they have any new cool adverts. I did it only last week when I discovered the cool new Gordon Ramsey trailer. Channel 4 should really take pride in it's marketing and other Channel's should take notes.
Shame that some programmes do not live up to the trailer "Hype" though this is not just something that happens on C4, all the channels are guilty of building up programmes only to fail in delivery of the promise, though I have to say I agree with Nicknack8 the F-word trailers were very good, funny and taking the mick out of themselves it still had no real relation to the actual content of the programme
