all the while the public individual needs to protect oneself there will never be a Britian without weapons...at least until the Goverment leave the Ivory Tower and see the REAL Britain for what it is...which will never happen I am afraid

It has been very upsetting to hear of the rise of fatal stabbings among young people in the UK. It reminds me of gang culture in Los Angeles......stabbings as amoral badges of honour.
At the same time I go to see the film 'Wanted'...and cannot separate the reality of such deaths from the glorification of the knife as weapon by one character to a young man who is learning how to fight and kill; 'a knife is silent and doesn't need to be reloaded'.pp
If carrying a knife has become a badge of manhood and of strength [heaven help us]....then better images of manhood need to loud and clear and on offer from society and from the media.
