The creator of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES is desperate for the Hollywood writers' strike to end, because he's fast running out of episodes. Marc Cherry admits he and his writing team have honoured their fellow Writers Guild Of America members and come out on strike - and that could mean a very early end to the current season of the show. He says, "We've shut down and that's it - until it's all over." Cherry admits the writing team has only completed work on nine episodes, and they'll run out in the next month. And that will serve to frustrate viewers - because they'll have to wait to see how an upcoming tornado episode turns out. Speaking from the picket line on Monday (05Nov07), Cherry explains, "They're gonna want to know who the hell died and they're not gonna find out for a while."

I know the strike sucks so much. mehh, it started yesterday and is likely to last quite a while (though there was one last year and it only lasted 5 days!)
I was going to post something about this but couldn't be bothered and the article was SO long.
'Every show in America will probably be effected. Grey's have enough episodes to last until christmas and Brothers and Sisters have 5 more episodes until they run out (on ep 6 and they've wrote up to ep 11).
Actually i'll post that article incase anyone does want to read it;
It's every scripted tv show...so this includes all dramas, comedies, late night and soaps. And of course movies...but as movies are usually written years before they're filmed we won't really feel any affect there...so yeah, any scripted television.
What it means for the show depends on how long the strike lasts. We know from Krista's blog that they were writing 412 (fully believe she mentioned that on purpose to let us know how far they were). With the scripts written they can keep filiming those episodes. However, the writers can't write anything past that. So once they run out of episodes...we're stuck in hiatus until the strike is over and there's been time to write more. According to Ausilleo 411 airs in January...which means if the strike is resolved in the next month we won't even feel it...but that's a big if.
At the same time there's some speculation that we won't see any shows on in December if this strike lasts and that they'll stretch things out further to get better times as December is a bad month for tv with all the Christmas stuff.
And as a side note...that you didn't ask but I feel the need to explain anyway...they're striking because with the new ways of watching tv they're basically getting ripped off. People are paying to download episodes online and they're seeing none of that profit...and apparently they're not seeing a lot of DVD profit either. So they want more money. '
I deleted stuff from the middle cos it was bout certain tv shows.

Ooh loads of writers and some actors/actresses were at the picket line on Wednesday (as they are all for the strike) Flicka was there too She looks so cool in a picture i saw.
Ahh why can't the peope just give the writers more money cos they deserve it, they're right, they should get a share of money from the downloads over the internet; they're the fricken' writers of shows without them there would be no shows to watch or download they should get what they deserve; more money!

err what about we all go on a downloading strike not that it would really do much coz its for free and i watch it when its on tv anyway and then id diee of withdrawl symptoms hmm

Production of the hit show "Desperate Housewives" and at least six sitcoms filmed before live audiences will be halted as a result of the writers strike
...
Producer Alexandra Cunningham said "Desperate Housewives" will stop production on Wednesday after running out of scripts. Shows that have already been completed won't last until Christmas, she said.
"It's unfortunate. We want to get back to work," Cunningham said.

In Toluca Lake, near Warner Bros. studio, writers converged on a house serving as a location shoot for "Desperate Housewives."
"We write the story-a, Eva Longoria," about 30 strikers chanted, referring to a star of the hit ABC show. Longoria left the house and handed out pizza to strikers.
...
Marc Cherry, executive producer and creator of the show, said the writers had his blessing to picket as long as they were respectful to the actors.
