TV comedy flop Joey has been axed in the UK after millions abandoned the series within the first six weeks of it airing.

The spin-off from super-successful show Friends, which charted the adventures of Matt LeBlanc's character Joey Tribbiani, was shown on British TV network Five, costing the network a staggering GBP500,000 per episode.

An insider says, "It just wasn't worth the money. It was a flop in the States. It just didn't have the wit or the warmth that Friends had."

A Five spokesman confirms, "We will not be showing the second series."

Joey was fun, but definitely not worth half a million pounds an episode!

Now that Brad's well out the way, let's hope that Jennifer will get her head on the right way and make the Friends reunion movie!

...you know it makes sense...!

Looks like its going to be axed in America too:

Taken from bbc.co.uk

Friends spin-off Joey has been put on hold in the US as speculation grows it will be axed, it has been reported.
TV network NBC has temporarily pulled Joey from the line-up after just 4m viewers tuned in last week, according to industry paper Daily Variety.

Meanwhile, rival network Fox has ordered a third season of medical drama House, starring Hugh Laurie.

The series has averaged 14.1m viewers, but numbers have jumped since Fox began airing the show after American Idol.

Emmy award

House has managed to hold on to 70% of the American Idol audience - 20% more than other shows have managed.

Laurie, who plays the grumpy-yet-brilliant Doctor Gregory House, won a Golden Globe earlier this year for his role, and was nominated for an Emmy award last year.

Joey was due to be aired in the US at 8pm on Tuesdays, but last week just 4m viewers tuned in.

The timeslot will now be filled by Most Outrageous Moments, and Joey will be put back on hold, possibly until the summer.

Joey, starring Matt LeBlanc, had already been struggling on Thursday nights, with audiences way down from the 18.6m viewers who tuned in for the show's debut in September 2004.

Both Joey and House are shown on Five in the UK.

I never actually saw this series, but from the normal friends episodes joey wasnt really a good character I mean he was good at some points but on the whole he just acted like a "jock". And that was a bit stupid, I personally would find chandler and monica making a spin off, there funnier and have more intresting approach in tehre characters on friends.

Hello,

I think I maybe one of the few people I know that liked Joey. I think it had a shaky start but got better as it went on. I live in ireland and they are showing the second series now. Not sure if there is going to be a third, has anybody heared anything about that.

i really like joey! why can't five sell it to a terrestrial company that doesn't care about ratings, just entertaining the audience

people don't like it because they compare it to friends! IT IS NOT FRIENDS, IT IS NOTHING LIKE FREINDS! sure, it can never reach the success of freinds, but it is still a really good comedy.

from digital spy's tube talk

may 30th

Lewis Card: "I too am sorry to hear joey has been cancelled, I hope five decide to show this soon. Also, has everybody hates chris been picked up for a second series?"

Neil: It has indeed. As for Joey, still no word on when it will air - but it will be shown.

i personally trust neil. so i don't knwo what to think
